Chapter 1: Log-sledding

One siku in Jasper Park, Canada, two wolves, one of them a slender female with dhahabu fur, brown eyes, a creamy face and legs, and a white underbelly, and the other a thin male with gray fur, a black mane and tail, blue eyes, and a silver underbelly and legs, are seen at the juu of a hill, pushing a log toward the slope.

"You ready for this Kate?" the gray mbwa mwitu says.

"Sure I am, Humphrey, I've done this about 5 times now." The dhahabu one replies.

"Okay," Humphrey says as he gets in the log with Kate following "Here we go!"

Humphrey pushes the log down the slope of the hill.

"Air wolf!" Humphrey yells out as the log speeds down the hill, "We are flying today, Kate!"

"We sure are!" Kate replies, already enjoying the fun.

Meanwhile, further down the hill, two zaidi wolves, one a slender female with pure white fur, manyoya and lavender eyes, and the other a muscular male with flaming red fur, manyoya and a creamy underbelly and legs, are seen lying on their backs watching clouds go by.

"Nice day, don't wewe think Lilly?" the red mbwa mwitu asks,

"Yes, it sure is Garth." the white one, known as Lilly, replies.

Then the log Kate and Humphrey are riding pulls up to the pair and crashes into a tree, catching their attention.

"Hi Lilly!" Kate calls to the white wolf.

"Hi Kate!" Lilly calls back while climbing to her feet.

"Sorry if we interrupted anything." Humphrey says, moving the log away from the tree.

"Not at all." Garth says, "Nothing important."

"Okay, just making sure." Humphrey says, climbing back into the log.

"By the way, mind if Lilly and I jiunge you?" Garth asks, "I feel in the mood for some excitement."

"Sure, hop in." Kate says, after climbing into the log in front of Humphrey,

Then Lilly and Garth walk over and board the log.

"I'm not too sure about this." Lilly says after climbing in front of Kate,

"Don't worry Lilly," Kate says, "It's actually pretty fun."

"Then let's get going!" Garth says after climbing in behind Humphrey.

"Okay, here we go!" Humphrey says, pushing his hind paws against the ground with Kate and the log continues down the hill.

"Left!" Humphrey yells, then everyone shifts their weight and the log passes the rock it nearly hit.

"Right!" Kate yells, then everyone tilts over again and the log dodges a tree.

"You were right Kate, this is fun!" Lilly says to her sister,

"Told ya so." Kate replies,

Then Lilly turns her head back to see where the log is going and notices two figures up ahead in the log's path.

"Uh, Kate?" Lilly says worriedly to her older sister.

"What is it?" Kate replies, moving her head to the side to allow Lilly to see her.

"I think we got company downhill." Lilly says pointing to the pair of Mbwa mwitu loups just ahead of them.

Kate looks and sees the same Mbwa mwitu loups Lilly saw in the log's path.

"Hutch, Claw, look out!" Kate calls to the two wolves.

The two wolves, one with gray and white fur, a dark blue mane, and gray facial markings and the other with red-orange fur, manyoya look in the direction Kate's voice came from and see the log heading toward them.

"Jump!" the gray mbwa mwitu says as he and the other jump out of the way of the speeding log.

"That was close." the gray mbwa mwitu says after jumping onto a rock.

"That's true, Hutch" the red-orange female says, "But those four should know to see where they're going before they do that."

"What're wewe planning on doing, Claw?" Hutch asks her.

"I think I'll remind them to do what I alisema they should've done." Claw says, running after the log.

"Hey, wait up!" Hutch yells, giving chase on Claw.

Meanwhile, the log is still going down the hill. Then Kate turns toward Garth.

"Hey Garth, not to be rude au anything, but does Claw get mad easily?" Kate asks him.

"No." Garth replies, "But sometimes she may attempt to get revenge if she is attacked. Why?"

Kate points behind Garth and he looks to see Claw and Hutch running in their direction.

"Hey! Hold up there!" Claw calls to them.

"Humphrey, Garth, slow us down a bit!" Kate tells the two males behind her.
Humphrey and Garth proceed to slow down the log, allowing Claw to catch up to them.

"What is it?" Kate asks Claw.

"Just wanted to tell wewe that if wewe plan on log-sledding again, wewe might want to look where wewe might be going so wewe don't turn anyone into road kill kwa mistake." Claw replies.

"Oh, okay." Kate says, "Thanks for the tip!"

"Don't mention it!" Claw majibu back.

Then Hutch trips over a small rock, crashing into Claw and causing both of them to roll down the hill.

"Uh oh, that's not good!" Humphrey says upon seeing Hutch and Claw rolling downhill, catching everyone's attention.

Then Hutch and Claw go up a small ramp and land in the log right behind Garth, then Hutch starts to fall backwards off the log.

"Hutch!" Claw calls out to him, grabbing his foreleg and starts to fall herself, but Garth grabs onto her, stopping both Claw and Hutch from falling off the log.

"Looks like you've decided to jiunge us for the ride." Garth says after pulling Claw and Hutch onto the log.

"Rolling into this log was a mistake, Garth." Claw replies.

"Well, enjoy this while wewe can!" Humphrey calls to her, "We're nearly to Kate and Lilly's den!"

Meanwhile, down in a small clearing, an elderly gray mbwa mwitu is seen walking with a goose, a duck, and an auburn mbwa mwitu with a brown mane.

"That was a pretty good game back there, Marcel" The gray mbwa mwitu says to the goose.

"Thanks, wewe didn't do so bad yourself Winston" The goose, bata bukini majibu back.
Then the group walks up to a small cave and a female mbwa mwitu with creamy dhahabu fur, manyoya comes out of it.

"Hi Winston, how was the game?" The female mbwa mwitu asks the gray one.

"It went pretty well Eve, I think Tony beat Marcel's record on the course." Winston replies, pointing to the auburn mbwa mwitu to his left.

"Well, he almost beat Marcel's record," the bata says. "Except he Lost kwa one stroke to Marcel."

"Paddy's right Eve" Tony says, "One less of a good swing and I would've gotten a Birdie."

"By the way, how're Kate, Lilly, and the boys doing?" Winston asks Eve.

"Lilly left with Garth to watch the clouds and Humphrey took Kate to play one of his games." Eve replies.

"And which game would it be?" Paddy asks Eve.

"I'm not sure. But I think I'll figure it when Kate comes back." Eve replies.

Just then, the log Kate, Lilly, and the others are riding on appears.

"Look out! Coming through!" Humphrey calls out to the Mbwa mwitu loups around the area even though they're 5 feet away from the log's path.

"There's the answer to your question." Winston says to Eve.

Then the log hits a large rock, sending all six Mbwa mwitu loups flying and Hutch, Humphrey, and Garth crash onto the ledge Winston and his group are on.

"Hi." Garth nervously says upon lifting his head to see Eve directly in front of him.

"Incoming!" Humphrey yells as he sees Kate, Lilly, and Claw come flying in.

"Excuse me." Garth says taking off and stands on his hind legs.

Then Lilly comes down and Garth catches her in his forelegs.

"Thanks." Lilly says.

"No problem." Garth says to Lilly, putting her on the ground.

Then Humphrey positions himself under Kate and catches her in his forelegs.

"Gotcha." Humphrey says, rubbing his nose with Kate's before putting her on the ground.

Then Hutch catches Claw in his forelegs as she comes down.

"Saved kwa the co-leader." Hutch jokingly says to her before setting her on the ground.

Then the six Mbwa mwitu loups look toward Eve and the others.

"Looks like there's no need to tell Eve now." Tony says to Winston.

"Yes, indeed." Winston replies.

"Let me guess," Eve says to Humphrey, "Log-sledding again?"

"Uh, yes." Humphrey says nervously before Kate stands in front of him.

"Don't worry, Mom." Kate says, "No one got hurt."

"Did wewe really think I was going to attack your mate out of anger with wewe watching?" Eve asks Kate.

"Looked kinda like wewe going to from my point of view." Kate says.

"Well, wewe were incorrect this time." Eve says, then she turns to Humphrey, "Don't worry, I know wewe enjoy taking her on wewe log-sled rides and I don't mind if she enjoys it."

"Okay." Humphrey says, still a bit shaken.

"Well, I might as well get back to my patrol job." Hutch says, walking off. "See wewe later!"

"Okay!" Kate calls to Hutch as he runs off.

"So, Dad," Garth says turning to Tony, "How'd the game go?"

"It went pretty well, son." Tony says, "But I Lost to Marcel kwa 1 stroke, just one zaidi good hole on that last course and I would've gotten a Birdie! Oh well, it was still fun anyway."

"Well, maybe you'll have better luck inayofuata time." Lilly says.

"Yeah, think you'd like to come see a game sometime?" Tony asks her.

"Sure." Lilly says.

"Very well," Marcel says, "We can have the inayofuata game tomorrow."

"Okay." Tony says, "I might as well get back to the eastern side of the valley since Garth is still learning to lead the pack, ready to go son?"

"Way ahead of wewe Dad." Garth says walking off with Tony following.

"Care to jiunge us Lilly?" Garth asks his mate.

"Well that depends on if my mother approves au not." Lilly says.

"Sure wewe can go, Lilly." Eve says.

"Okay." Lilly says, walking off with Garth and Tony.

"I might as well get back to learning how to lead the western side of the pack too since Garth and Lilly are going learn to lead their side of it." Kate says.

"Well, I think wewe have all the help you'll need," Humphrey says to Kate, "I am leader of the Omegas after all."

"True, but Omegas are just complete jokesters, just like you." Kate playfully jokes to Humphrey while brushing her tail under his chin.

"Really?" Humphrey jokes back to Kate.

"Yeah, really." Kate playfully says back.

"Oh, now you've done it!" Humphrey says playfully tackling Kate and pinning the golden mbwa mwitu on her back, "Pinned ya."

"Really?" Kate says rolling over, pinning Humphrey on his back, "More like I pinned you."

Humphrey laughs at the joke Kate said. "Someday Kate, someday I'm going win at pinning wewe and wewe won't be able to beat me." He tells her.

"We'll see about that." Kate says playfully getting off of Humphrey.

"Okay now, wewe two." Eve kindly says as she walks up to the couple, "Now how about wewe get back to work?"

"Right away, Mom." Kate says walking over to Winston with Humphrey following.

"Okay then, come with me." Winston says to Kate and Humphrey before walking off with them following after him.
