Humphrey laid his ears back but still refused to move.
He looked at Kate, "You loved him?"
"It would be better to say that I still upendo him, but I upendo wewe too and wewe are my mate."
"Then why did wewe never mention him in the last year, wewe never spoke of him not once."
Once again his words cut deep, I had to get out of here.
Humphrey turned his head toward to the front of the cave and soon after Lilly and Garth came running in.
"Oh for fucks sake," I exlaimed.
"We heard shouting, whats happening," Garth said.
Humphrey turned back to me, "Alec is trying to leave."
"Oh my Lord, how is he even standing, the pain should incapacitate him," alisema Lilly.
"I guess hes a tough son of a bitch," Garth growled, "but hes not going to leave."
"You must let me leave I can not stay here," I alisema despretely, "my being here threatens to tear whats left of my moyo from my chest, Please just let me go."
The three Mbwa mwitu loups looked to Kate.
"Well its your call, Kate."
"Kate please, for whatever upendo wewe still have for me let me go." I begged
"I cant let wewe go from Jasper," she said, "but wewe may stay in your own den."
I bowed my head, "then wewe have condemed me to death from grief."
She looked at me, tears in her eyes, "I just cant let wewe go yet," she alisema softly almost as if to herself.
Lilly moved to my injured side to support me, "come on ill help wewe to your den, Garth ill meet wewe at back home."
"Alright dear." and he trotted out of the den.
"You two may leave now," alisema Humphrey,"me and Kate have some things to talk about."
Kate sighed and hung her head.
"Since when is it an Omegas place to swali an Alpha," I growled.
"Its not," he growled, "its a conversation between mates."
A spark of anger appeared deep inside me. It felt good, a relief from the pain and rejection.
Lilly began to force me out before this got uglier and with my shoulder there wasnt much I could do about it.
"We will finish our conversation later Humphrey."
God I just wanted to hit something.
Kate frowned at me and, like turning on a switch the pain was back, tearing at me once again.
I turned and with Lilly's help struggled my way across the threshhold.
We slowly made our trip to my den, which was on the other side of the valley. The physical pain was emense, but the emotional pain outdid it still.
Through the pain we still managed to reach the entrance to my home.
"Lilly," I alisema quietly, "theres no reason that wewe must help me zaidi now."
"Shhh now, wewe are a friend and I help my friends."
"Thank you, Lilly."
She looked at me thoughtfully.
"I am going to tell how Humphrey and Kate fell in love."
"Lilly..." I began to protest.
"Hush, I believe it would help wewe see where Kate is coming from."
So she told me all about Kate and Humphrey's capture and return to Jasper. After she was done I realized that it was truely all my fault that I had Lost her.
I felt a heaviness in my heart, "thank you, I believe I did need to here that."
"Are wewe alright, Alec, I know this must be very hard for you."
I looked at her, careful to control my face, "Everything that is happening right now is a result of my actions. If I hadn't gone off on my own and just come back with her like she asked, then that would be me cuddling with her every night, and her pregnant with my child."
"Alec, im sorry for you, please let me help in some way."
"Just leave me alone to my grief, Lilly. It will be gone soon enough, but for the time being, let me deal with it my way."
She gave me a concerned look but did as I asked. Only when I was sure that no one was coming back, I let my tears show, sobbing quietly to myself.
The weeks past too slowly for me, my mind had to much time to wonder. My shoulder had healed enough that Lilly, my nurse maid, had finnaly allowed me to exit the cave and go where I wished as long as I did not leave the valley. However I still was not allowed to go hunting with the pack au participate in dominance fights, so I was one of the lowest ranking Alphas. That had to change.
I was not looking mbele to being under Garth's command, but I suppose at this point it would be better than being under Humphrey's. I guess that Tony and Winston had shown a great deal of insight, even before I had injured myself.
Sometimes I still saw Kate in the distance but I never approached her, nor did she ever approach me. All I could do is watch from a distance as she grew bigger with her growing pregnancy.
The mind-crippling grief had now shrunk to a dull ache in my chest.
A couple of days before I was to be judged in perfect health, I was summond to Kates den.
When I got there, the only ones there were Kate and Humphrey and Garth and Lilly.
I looked around, "I was told this was a formal occasion, shouldnt there be zaidi people?"
"It is a formal matter but also a private matter, so stop talking and sit down," alisema Humphrey.
I glared at him but did as he asked.
"As wewe know Kate's pup is to be born soon," alisema Lilly, "an..."
"And I want wewe to be the Godfather," burst Kate.
For the first time since I entered the pango Kate looked at me.
"And I have left no room for argument from anyone else."
Humphrey looked away.
I just stood there in stund silence.
He looked at Kate, "You loved him?"
