I could see it working so long as it keeps a plot for an entire season and not just one episode. Basically, if it's more like Watership Down or Red Wall, then it'll work (those have plots that last an entire season).

But if it ends up being like All Dogs Go to Heaven's TV series or other similar series (like Spongebob, since MojoOmegaWolf mentioned that) with a different plot every episode or two, then it won't last.

Edit: One other thing (and this isn't me hating on A&O3 but stating something that a lot of people have, it seems). It should be more like A&O1, 2 and 4, in that it has the more serious tone rather than being entirely children friendly like A&O3.

I read something about how sad music stays popular longer than happy music, and that could apply to movies as well when you think about it.

@wwwarea: Actually, it would do worse if each episode is a different plot. All Dogs Go to Heaven's TV series is negatively received by fans of the movies for that reason, and Watership Down's second season is considered the weakest because half of the season does just that. (That's just two examples. I've probably seen more, but Law & Order SVU, Law and Order, and CSI Miami are the only TV series I've watched in years.)

Then again, Law and Order SVU (and many similar TV series) does it a lot of the time, so I guess it depends on the writers. I just thing it would keep most peoples' interest longer, in A&O's case, if it kept a main plot for an entire (or at least most of) a season.

So yeah, I can agree with some episodes having a different plot as long as it doesn't go overboard like All Dogs Go to Heaven with every episode ignoring the events of the one before and after it.

@wwwarea: Wow. I didn't even notice you replied, haha. On the Watership Down forum I used to be an admin on, the only complaint about the TV series was in the second season when the middle five or so episodes strayed away from the main plot. A lot of the people there (okay, maybe all of them) pointed that out.

I was actually new to All Dogs Go to Heaven when I watched the TV series, I think in...2011. I wasn't overly excited about it. But that may because of how different of a tone it has from the movies. I'm fine with non-dark movies, but I think the lighter tone than the first two movies may have been a shock.

I don't watch TV a lot, but I have noticed that Law and Order SVU, and other similar shows do have different plots every episode, except for a few exceptions that carry over a few episodes. But I guess the popularity depends on whether or not it's more like real life (such as SVU) or based in fiction like All Dogs Go to Heaven. Maybe animated TV series are more popular if they follow one plot for a season? (I wouldn't know as it's been years since I've watched animated TV series besides All Dogs Go to Heaven, Redwall and Watership Down, haha.)

Sorry about the late reply, though. I forgot all about this.

@wwwarea: It was this forum - link

I know the person who created it well and the first three to five members just as well, and they aren't biased people at all, particularly the person who created this forum. I've never met more objective people in my life. (I won't judge most of the new members either way after those three to five since I basically left the forum because of lack of interest in Watership Down after getting interested in Alpha and Omega, and because of school, even if I've graduated now. I was pretty much talking about the older members who talked about it, not the new ones.)
