After losing Christine I don't think he could have stayed in the theatre at all anymore. It would have reminded him too much of her. The pain for him, I think would be too much for him.

Idk, i think he went to Madame Giry's house, since she was such a mother for him and he loved her (as his mother, not the way he loved Christine).
