I greatly respect Edward Elric from full metal alchemist. He's trying to do something for his brother and is unselfish. He's completely different form any cliche shonen lead i've ever seen before. Plus the entire Cats of Angel Beats

I respect a lot of characters~ One of them would definitely have to be Homura Akemi. I greatly respect her because she's loyal, keeps her promises, determined, never loses hope, and the fact that she never gave up. I could explain why I chose those reasons, but I think that would be a spoiler for anyone who wants to watch it.

Yuu from SIH, he's an awesome character, he deserves Yoshio way zaidi than Hatori in my opinon.

There's alot but I really respect Homura Akemi from PMMM and if we are talking about same gender then it's Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach au Naruto Uzumaki from (Obviously Naruto) But there are ALOT of characters I really respect. I just named only three.

And I respect those three due to their strength of character.

There are a lot of characters I respect, but I'll post just 3~

Haruhi Suzumiya- She is trying to accomplish her dream even if she knows its nearly impossible. And she believes in herself and her companions.

Yuri Nakamura (Angel Beats!) - Even if she had such terrible past, she stood against God to fight and leaded SSS efficiently.

Yuzuru Otonashi (Angel Beats!) - Has a terrible past too, but he helped every SSS member in reaching heaven without any regrets.

And I also respect every single character of Angel Beats!

i respect katou youji and iwaki kyosuke alot
katou youji:because when he sees something he wanmts he goes at it without a sekunde thought and because when he messes up he'll admit to it and try his best to fix it he's a strong optimistic person and i respect him for that

iwaki kyosuke:because even when his family told him he couldn't make as an actor and he didn't have any talent that still didn't stop him and he worked hard at even though for a while he didn't get any parts and was in AV for a long time he still didn't give up o his dream and now he's one of the bigest stars in japan and presidant of a talent agency and thats why i respect him

Gintoki Sakata, well what can I say, I've been tainted kwa his dirty silver luster. He might be a useless, lazy bastard who stays around the house napping, drinking, and kusoma JUMP but when needed he shines brighter than anything else. His a person who risk his own life to protect au even save what's important to other people even if he doesn't even know them and giving out life lessons on the side.

One character I really respect is Mr.Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh! Why? because of the way he treats his family and in the anime he's stated that Marafiki are a sign weakness a number of different times but I feel that he's zaidi of a family person than a friend person and he just doesn't want to admit because compare the way he treats Mokuba (and how he'll do anything to save him when he's in trouble) to the way he treats Yugi-boy and his Marafiki and I think he's just zaidi interested in family who'll always be there for wewe while Marafiki tend to come and go and I think Kaiba-kun shows a good example of that.

Father Fujimoto from Blue Exorcist. And as long as he's in the picture, Yukio too, even though he can get a little uptight. They're both amazing.

Toshiro Hitsugaya from bleach has my respect! i respect him alot because when he was young he was bullied and was called names kwa momo. He still is kwa momo and now gets bribed with Candy and toys because of his age. i respect him because he hasnt killed anyone of them yet XD

Xanxus from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! he is a boss and if he existed i would gladly jiunge varia and onyesha loyality and respect to him, he is really strong and a scary person but would anyways onyesha him respect and loyality, he is a true boss!

France from Hetalia. He's been threw so much hardship, yet he still acts so full of life and truely sees the beauty in everything. He's kinda, caring, sweet, brotherly, fatherly, loyal, brave, a gentlemen, respectful, and just amazing.

Ciel~!! he loses his parents and forms a contract with a hot punda butler just for revenge <3

I respect Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece as he himself is very tough character despite his skinny appearance. He always stands up for what's right and never leave his comrades behind. He inspires everyone around him to always aim higher in life
