Merlin 5.04 "Anothers Sorrow" Spoiler Free Preview

Can this Saturday’s Merlin be as awesome as last week’s episode? The Great Dragon is as circumspect in his majibu as ever

In a cave, a dragon waits to give a young man a glimpse into the future of… Merlin.

“In the land of myth and the time of magic the destiny of a great kingdom rest on the shoulder of a young man. His name is… Oh hang on, I’m having a senior moment…”

“Great Dragon!”

“Nope, that’s not it. I’m sure it begins with M and scores eight at Scrabble…”

“No, I’m summoning you, Great Dragon.”

“And I know wewe can use it in Scrabble, because it’s not just a proper noun. It’s some kind of creature as well. An otter, perhaps?”

“Oi, it’s me. The young spoiler seeker from the forest of Yzlaquaxaj.”

“Blimey, that’d be a cracker, mkate mkavu in Scrabble. Is it only a proper noun, au is the forest named after something? A type of moss? A variety of herb? A breed of witch?”

“I dunno. It took me until I was 13 before I could even pronounce the damned place. Anyway, it’s Merlin.”

“Hello, Merlin.”

“No, that’s the name of the young man.”

“What young man?”

“The one wewe were talking about. Density, kingdom, shoulders, blah, blah, blah. Surprised wewe forgot. wewe say the same damned thing every week.”

“I read it off a cue card.”

“Oh, okay. Anyway. To business. You’ve seen this Saturday’s episode?”

“Oh, I’ve seen many things, young seeker of trivia. Attack ships on moto off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate…”

“What, in the inayofuata episode of Merlin?”

“No, I think that was Blade Runner.”

“Blade what?”

“Wait a few centuries. You’ll upendo it. Anyway, this Saturday’s Merlin. As ever, I cannot give away spoilers, but I can tell wewe this. Morgana has a dodgy makeover.”

“Is she a major part of the plot?”

“Oh yes. She’s back to her old ways… heh, heh, heh.”

“Why are wewe laughing?”

“Because I made a joke that’ll only make sense after you’ve seen the episode. Comedy is about timing after all.”

“I need more? What kind of episode is it?”

“It’s pretty intense from start to finish. There’s not a great deal of plot but there’s a really doomy atmosphere. And it’s a major episode in the development of Arthur’s respect for Merlin. Lots of talk about politics versus revenge. Major sword fights. A bit of magical combat (though not nearly enough – I like a good bit of magical combat me). There’s lots of running around the woods. There are a couple of returning characters who interact in an unexpected way. No magical creatures, besides my usual voiceover, of course.”

“Anything to look out for?”

“Merlin gives Arthur a direct order… and rather enjoys it. Arthur admits something to Gwen he doesn’t want her telling anyone. Gwaine has to play babysitter. Somebody other than Merlin au Morgana does the glowy-eyed thing. Gaius joins the away team, for no obvious reason other than he comes in handy for the plot… but it’s nice to see him out and about. Somebody gets an unexpected clean bill of health and somebody else unexpectedly joins the fray.”

“And I suppose that’s all you’re giving me?”

“No. I have one zaidi thing to give you,”

“What’s that?”

“No old people reveal something of vital importance with their dying breath. Somebody clearly didn’t get the memo.”

“How old are wewe Great Dragon?”

“As old as my tongue and a little bit older than my teeth. What an impertinent question. I’m a mere whippersnapper when it comes to Great Dragons. Just ask… oh what was his name?”

“Hang on I’ll write it down for you…”

Merlin “Another’s Sorrow” airs on BBC1 on Saturday at 8.20pm.

Arthur yawns and motions for the servant to fill his goblet. The chakula on his plate is still untouched. He isn’t hungry; in fact he is bored and beside him, his father is enjoying himself with his council members. He looks beyond his father and notices his step mother is engaged with her own group of friends. Sighing, Arthur rues why he agreed to jiunge the feast in the first place. He didn’t want to disappoint his mother even though he knows how boring feasts like this are. And now he wishes he hadn’t promised her. He could be elsewhere right now, enjoying the...

With their asswipe comments, they find amusing they encourage the dysfunctional Merthurs, who bask in death pronouncements and vitriol dedicated to racism, violence and other bullshit. wewe are not serving the fandom when wewe make maoni like wewe did about the third wheel. No wewe are not. In fact, wewe are inaonyesha yourselves to be exactly the same manner of rubbish that wewe are advocating tacitly.

Now, I don't personally know, other than Murphy at the juu of the heap who has a failed Merthur predisposish, but do wrangle yourself and the chimps that wewe have manning MO Twitter and Facebook, because...

So: There are going to be some difficult and dark parts in here. There will be things wewe may not enjoy reading. There may be some things wewe will HATE reading. All I ask is that wewe trust me and stick with me. Don’t kill me. See it through. I promise it will all be okay. Okay? Okay.

-Guinevere-

“You have suffered much for one so young,” Helios says, seemingly sympathetic to Gwen’s fabricated tale of a murdered family and her flight. “Now those days are truly behind you,” he adds decisively, lifting his goblet to his lips. He drinks, eyeing her appreciatively...

Arthur slipped quietly out of the castle, wearing his familiar ‘incognito cloak’ over his white shirt. He had first worn it when hiding out at Guinevere’s house during the Tourney, the first time he realised how much he felt for her and the first time he had kissed her sweet lips. Since then there had been many a visit to her house in the dead of night. He had been stopped and challenged many times kwa the guards, until they grew to recognise his cloak.

As he made his way the short distance the moon was full.

He tapped on her door gently, a familiar combination of taps which she knew. As...

•James Callis and I wish there had been zaidi of him.

•The introduction of the Treiskelion (Celtic Symbol) it is about mbele motion (mankind’s that is). It is a dynamic symbol of growth, progression, war before tranquility…back to the darkest saa theme.

It is also the ancient symbol of the Trinity lolol. If wewe interpret it spiritually: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. If wewe do so symbolically: Love, Intellect, Power.

There is a holy Trinity in...

“It is always darkest just before the siku dawneth.”

This phrase often ascribed to the English Theologian Fuller is so apropos for this episode thematically. We partook of alisema dark saa tonight and it was glorious. Not because of magical beasts ie hormonally imbalanced rodents of the dentally challenged variety, with strong affections for Sir Gwaine, but because it spoke to the moyo of compassion, those who actually have it and those who don’t; those who are selfless and those who are selfless; those who have courage and those who snip and bite at wounds in a roundabout way like what...

Our hearts and condolences go out to the people of Norway at this tragic time with the killing of 90 people, mostly young teenagers enjoying a camping trip as well as those killed in the bombing in the capital, Oslo.

I hope we can all pray for them and hope that we can avoid such tragedies in the future.

Also, the sad death of Amy Winehouse, a promising young singer of only 27 years old. A sad but inevitable death due to her unfortunate addictions. She was a great singer and had so much to live for at her tender age but alas took the wrong path.

All in all, it has been a sad weekend in two Continents....
