I am under the impression that the writers of Avatar were Eragon fans. (From the Inheritance Cycle) Here is why: (as wewe can guess, I like making lists)
Eragon and Saphira are the last free dragon and rider (besides Oromis and Glader). Eragons’ duty is to quote: “restore balance to the land” If you’re going to compare Oromis and Glader to someone, it would be Avatar Roku and his (surprise surprise) dragon.
In the Eragon world, there are the Dwarves, the Elves, the humans, and the Dragons. The dragoni were all killed in the fall of the riders which was (not joking) 100 years before.
In the third book of the series, Eragon needs a new sword because his old one was stolen kwa Murtagh (see below) so he goes to an elfish swords maker Rhunon. Rhunon alisema that she couldn’t make him a sword because she lacked the right material, brightsteel (and she made a vow that she wouldn’t make any zaidi swords). Do wewe know what Brightsteel is? Space rock. A meteor. It gets worse.
Eragon and Saphira finally locate the brightsteel under the Menoa mti (see below) and bring it to Rhunon. Where she tells him that because of her vow, he will have to make his sword. Eragon has to make a sword out of space rock. Sound familiar?
Murtagh. Murtagh is a teenage boy who’s father is Morzan, an evil character. (Not the main evil character, and he’s dead, but still.) Now, Murtagh doesn’t like Morzan, because:
a.) he’s evil, and
b.) When Murtagh was just a kid, his father threw a sword at him and LEFT A REALLY BAD SCAR ON HIS BACK. Oh joy.
Oh yeah, and
c.) His dad betrayed the good Dragon Riders, and helped kill off all of the dragons.
His family killed off the dragons. The picture on the side is a picture of him. No comment.
In the Elvin forest there is a tree. Now, this mti isn’t just a tree, oh no. It’s a MAGICAL tree. And the entire forest is CONNECTED to it, in some kind of magical way. I don’t even need to explain this one.
Galbatorix is the main Evil emperor dude in Eragon, and the way wewe can tell his soldiers apart is that they have flames stitched on their tunics.
Eragon says in Brisingr (the third book in the series), that if he could, he wouldn’t kill Galbatorix, he would lock him in jail for all eternity. Die.
Okay, that just about covers it. I’ll probably post a similar makala to this on the Eragon page. wewe know, I should write an makala on the similarities between Eragon and Lord of the Rings. That’ll be even LONGER. Mwahahahaha.
