The story line is better.

I loved the Legend of Korra story wise, but character wise.....Sheesh. I ended up disliking a good bunch of characters. -cough-MAKO-cough- The Last Airbender was better in my opinion.

Korra is fantastic, but its awesomeness only comes from the original series. :D

I love them both, but if I have to choose, the original series. But season 1 from The Legend of Korra is better than season 1 from The Last Airbender in my opinion.

I do love Korra though. ATLA was one of the highlights of my childhood, so I could also be voting out of nostalgia. However, the show does have a little more than what Korra does- the pacing was better, the characters are more developed, and the payoffs were better constructed. Everything was just more, and this is just judging Book 1: Water.

There are a lot of things about Korra I really enjoy though. The designs, the backstories (even if some are briefly told), the conflict, the music, and some of the characters are freaking fantastic but just need more development. TLOK sort of reminds me of Batman. I actually like the plot idea for the first season a little more than ATLA (but again, the payoff wasn't spectacular). I liked the whole "oppression" "injustice" "what is right, what is wrong" scenario. It made you ask questions. Unfortunately, we didn't get very deep on the issue due to the lack of time- it was a complete hit-and-miss. I think if the focus wasn't on the love-triangle most of the time, it could have been grander- I mean, we see some oppression with non-benders (we even see them segregated from benders), but we don't see this being discussed, and we don't see Korra try to interact and understand what it's all about. It was all just.. fighting, which is disappointing. I loved the suspense the show had, and it always kept you on the edge of your seat. And may I mention the villain- one of the best antagonists I've ever seen, he was calculated, he was intelligent, he was strong and durable, he had a past, and I really loved how it turned out that he was more of an anti-hero than a quote on quote villain (yes, Amon is my favorite character XD).

Korra was a hit-and-miss with the first season. So much more could have been, but there just wasn't. The ending was a cop-out, the issue of "benders vs. non-benders" could have been so much deeper, and the relationships varied from good, tragic, to terrible- this goes for family, friends, and love interests. I know I might be being a tad unfair considering my expectations are always high, but AGH, talk about being so close yet so far.

I love the characters so much more in atla. Also, the season finale on korra was nothing compared to atla.

I love Korra too but,come on! TLA is the original the storyline and the characters are better! Korra is awesome as well...can't wait for Book 2!!!!

Both, but if it weren't for ATLA I wouldn't even glace at TLOK.

besides from the fact that I think ATLA had a better story they also had better characters and the bending looked way better so this one goes to ATLA
