I'm kind of new to the fanbase, and one the ways I like to express myself is by telling a story about what I like. I've seen a lot of Avatar stories, and I was just wondering what everyone's opinions were. I'd like to post the story I wrote and get some opinions about it, but first, I'd like to know how you all feel about all the Fan Fiction out there.

Have you read it? If you have, do you like it? If you haven't, do you just not like the idea? Tell me everything.

I personally don't like reading fan fiction because I don't like the fact that it's not the "official thing" and I would just be filling my head up with all these different made up "stories" and "predictions".

I have yet to read any fan fiction on Avatar tbh. And yeap, I agree with Sp1r1t.

Of course, why should it be about the fact that there are people who do read it and write it? It doesn't bother me at all to worry about "predictions" or "stories" from other sources concerning a certain subject. I actually like reading what other people think. Don't get me wrong. Any movie, book or tv show, even cartoon is going to have a fanbase that will rip apart its ideals, shove it down other people's throats and basically ruin the experience for anyone who hasn't experienced it yet. And I have read some of the fan fiction, just to see what people can come up with. I guess being a writer, I can compartmentalize aspects of someone's story so that it doesn't interfere with the movie itself. And A LOT of it is bad. Really bad. That's why I like to see what I can come up with and compare it to others. As far as the "official thing," I don't think anyone will ever come close to James Cameron's vision. He is, after all, a good storyteller, and he is a very good director. I loved this movie a lot more than I thought I was going to, and I simply wanted to flesh out the idea I got after watching it. What can I say? I'm weird, and I type fast.

I actually like reading fan fiction. It's just that I've never read any Avatar-related because I've never thought of it. lol. I have a high tendency to read fan fictions when I'm pissed with how a certain TV show/movie/book that I like has ended. With Avatar... well, what can I say it. I love how the movie ended. I have no complaints about it at all. That's why I have not yet read any Avatar fan fictions.

I may start reading if you post your fan fictions here. It would be interesting to read from a fan's own perspective and imagination. However, I think I'm not a fan of fan fictions which predicts how a certain story ends (like what Sp1r1t said). I think I'm more of a fan of alternative universe fan fictions. =)

Oh, Avatar was probably one of the better-ending movies I've ever seen. I don't like reading stories that change that kind of stuff up either. I prefer AU stories myself, and I tend to write them. I especially like to have my stories start so far off into the future there's no real possibility of it happening. If someone would read it and give it a chance, I'd like to post my story here.

Fan Fiction is a form of writing that fans of a certain subject use to express their ideas on the subject. Good forms of it are very good, resulting in many fans admiration for the writer's prowess in creating a story. Bad forms of it usually result in some people refusing to give any of it a chance every again.

You can usually search the web for stories, and there are some forms of it that are very good. But those are few and far in between, so be careful what you look for. Check out FanFiction.net for a wide variety of stories on just about anything. Not just Avatar.

I don't like Neytiri's death...

I have to admit, I don't really like when the story involves the death of any character, though I am sometimes responsible for doing such a thing in order for the story to be possible. But there are some stories where it's almost as unnecessary for her to even be there. I guess it just depends on how the author decides to write her as a character.

I read Fanfiction, but nothing to do with Avatar.
