Sometimes looking like the character isn't as important as pulling off their personailty!!! The producers obviously saw something in Vanessa that felt right for Lindy. Kyle is being superficial for a long time in the book and Lindy wasn't describe as a total beauty like Vanessa. I felt like they choose an image instead of a character. But after seeing the preview for the movie, I felt like Vanessa really put a lot in the character. Another thing I liked that they changed for the movie is making Lindy's character a more obvious love interest than she was in the book!!! I loved the book but when i was reading it I never thought the girl handing out tickets for a dance, with the crooked teeth was gonna be the person Kyle falls in love with.
