This is a reprint of a classic makala that ran in the now defunct Spy Magazine about 15 years zamani au so. This makala is all over the internets now, though few sites properly attribute the original source. In any event, here's the reprinted text to this holiday classic.

Consider the following:

1) No known species of reindeer can fly. But there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world....

Is the word "Xmas" a result of the commercialization of Christmas?
Is the word "Xmas" a result of the commercialization of Christmas?
Every holiday season, newspapers, malls and televisheni commercials urge wewe to take advantage of "Xmas sales and specials." The word "Xmas" is easier to use in advertisements, and as a result, it's become associated with the commercialization of Christmas. But some Christians take offense to
the word "Xmas" and have called for the abolishment of this truncated version of the word "Christmas." So why is it so controversial, and where did it originate?

For some, Xmas is a dreaded four-letter word that reemerges every holiday season. The phrase is literally and symbolically distasteful, according...

Epiphany in Greece is known as Theofania au Fota. The first sanctification of the Epiphany (The Enlightenment) takes place in church on the eve of the holiday. Afterwards, the priest goes from house to house holding a kuvuka, msalaba and a basil branch. As he walks through each house, he uses the basil to sprinkle (bless) all the areas of the home.

An old custom in Crete , which is almost forgotten today, was the preparation of the fotokoliva (boiled wheat with peas) on the eve of Epiphany. The fotokoliva was eaten kwa the people, but they also fed it to their livestock, which was believed to insure good...

I got this from the H & H Nursery newletter.

Fresh holiday greens such as wreaths and garlands have a definite life span, but with the following tips wewe can keep them looking good so wewe can enjoy their wonderful scent and beauty throughout the holiday season.

If wewe aren't hanging au mounting your greens right away, lay them outside on the ground (best side up) in a cool shady location until wewe are ready to use them. Try to avoid getting the greenery wet.

Sunlight, heat and wind are the worst enemies for holiday greenery, so keep that in mind when hanging them up. Outdoors, wreaths will...

If you're looking for a festive look that doesn't scream "CHRISTMAS!", try out a sparkly sequinned dress! It's a maarufu look with all kinds of celebs.

Taylor Swift, Jordin Sparks, Beyonce, Hilary Duff, Katy Perry, and Kristen Stewart have all shone in shiny dresses. It's a great look to wear to any holiday event wewe might have coming up (a party, a school dance, a girls' night, etc. etc.)

Here are some options we found from Delia's. This one is a light grey dress with a smattering of sparkles and a flouncy skirt. The sekunde one only has sparkles on the juu and a cute bow at the waist. And the third option is an all-over sequins look!

If wewe don't feel comfortable wearing full-on sparkles, try accessorizing with something like glittery tights, a sparkly ring, au shiny metallic nail polish.

Do wewe like this trendy look?

In Greece when we talk about the "holidays" we are referring to the holiday period of Christmas, New mwaka and Epiphany.
Traditionallythe krisimasi holiday period lasts 12 days in Greece. There are many customs associated with the "twelve siku of Christmas," some very old and others relatively recent, like the decorated mti and the turkey on the Christmas-day table.
Historically,in 354 A.D. it was arranged for the birth of Christ to be celebrated on December 25, the same siku that they celebrated the birth of the ancient god Mithra, known as the "invincible sun god" and god of all solar deities...

 Merry krisimasi Fanpopping Marafiki
Merry Christmas Fanpopping Friends
'Tis the season to be jolly!
I have had to remind myself of this fact constantly in the past week for I have had probably the most stressful week of 2008. All I wanted was to be in readiness and organized for my favourite time of mwaka but things do not always go as planned.
I decide to do some nyumbani renovations and paint my house back in September, the house did not really need a revamping but I was bored and thought it was time for a change. Little did I imagine that only a few days before krisimasi the house would still be looking like a hurricane had swept through it.
I decided to get rid of...

I wrote this short song, based upon "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". It has been effectively retitled "Santa Claus is bringing wewe down".
You're going to shout
You're going to cry
You're going to pout, and I'm telling wewe why
Sant Claus is bringing wewe down!
He knows when wewe are knocked out
He knows when you're in pain
He knows when to ngumi, punch au not
And his wallops will drive wewe insane, woah!
Sant Claus is bring wewe down!
Yeah, Santa Claus is bring wewe down!
Yeah, Santa Claus is bringing wewe DOWN!

I wrote this other, slightly longer song, based upon "Frosty the Snowman" and effectively retitled "Frosty...

When a boy doesent belive in Santa Clause.

When a boy is Santa Clause.

When a boy looks like Santa Clause.

hmmm.......... This has to be longer so it can be an makala so here are the lyrics for "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

Dear Santa, here's my krisimasi list.
I hope you'll bring it all.
I've only asked for gifts my parents
can't find at the mall.

I'd like to have a UFO,
with aliens inside,
and maybe a Tyrannosaurus Rex
that I could ride.

A ninety-nine foot robot
is a present I could use.
I'll also need a time machine,
and rocket-powered shoes.

Please bring a gentle genie
who will grant my every wish,
and don't forget a wizard's wand,
and, yes, a talking fish.

Of course, I'll need a unicorn,
and won't wewe please provide
a dragon, and a castle
in the English countryside.

Of course, the weight of all these things
might cause your sleigh to crash.
If that's the case, dear Santa,
please feel free to just bring cash.
