I know that some of wewe were a bit disappointed with what happened in this episode. But we have no reason to be upset with the porch scene. In fact, we have every reason to be happy.

Damon, for maybe the first time in his life, has woken up with a smile on his face, as he replays THE KISS from the night before. Elena on the other hand, is channeling her excess nervous energy and uh - frustration - kwa working out in the training room. She's essentially 'dealing' with the kiss kwa trying NOT to deal with it, au what the implications could be. However, it's obvious the kiss had a profound effect on her. She didn't sleep last night, she half-tenses when Alaric mentions Damon, and she tries to sound ultra casual when asking "Have wewe uh...talked...to Damon today?" (perhaps wondering if Damon alisema anything to Alaric). But Alaric isn't fooled. He knows something's up with her, and mentions it to Damon. But he's just as guarded as Elena is, and is saying nothing.

I loved the porch scene. There are several things I would like to draw attention to:

Damon asking her if she would be OK was a swali directly linked to Stefan. That's what they were talking about after all, and that's why Elena is so upset. But instead of talking about Stefan, and the stunt he just played with her, she says: "You can't kiss me again."

The fact that Elena doesn't shrink from Damon's touch, and is the one who brings up the subject of the kiss means SHE was thinking about kissing HIM. But even though she wants to, she knows she can't, and that's why she tells him: "You can't kiss me again." But even after she says it, she STILL doesn't pull away. She WANTS to, but her conscience won't let her.

I don't see Elena's confession of "I can't, it's not right," as a rejection at all. Damon certainly doesn't. He doesn't look hurt au angry au sad. He is calm, composed and most of all, he sounds completely sure and confident, when he tells her "It's right. It's just not right now." Elena doesn't try to contest this, because she knows deep down in her moyo that it's true. It's not right for them now, but it will be. After they say goodnight, she lingers in the doorway to stare at Damon as he walks away, and seems loathe to shut the door.
Elena has never admitted that she has feelings for Damon, but on the bridge with Matt, she all but confesses, when she talks about how she's been holding onto the girl who should have died in the accident, the girl who "had a normal life and didn't fall in upendo with vampires." Not A vampire (singular), but Wanyonya damu (plural). It could be a harmless statement, but aliyopewa what we already know, it's unlikely that she was referring to just Stefan here.

Now that Damon and Elena have discussed where they stand regarding THE KISS, one swali remains: what is Elena going to do? Even if she eventually forgives Stefan as I'm sure she will at some point, and even if she still loves him enough to give him another chance, wouldn't it be massively insensitive of her to go back to him after she let Damon kiss her, and after he's made it clear that he's going to wait for her? And even after she's forgiven Stefan, and he wants to make it up to her, would it be 'right' for her to get back together with him, when she can't deny that she's falling for Damon? I know DE shippers assume Stelena will be reconciled some time this season, but when wewe consider how DE have progressed and how deep their connection is, wouldn't it be callous of Elena to jump back into Stefan's arms? If she can afford to be so considerate of Stefan when he's been so awful to her, shouldn't she at least be as generous and loyal towards Damon, if not zaidi so? It's not just about Stefan anymore. Damon isn't going to pressure Elena and force her into making a decision. Unlike other (mortal) guys, he can and will wait forever for her.
