I think that if it hadn't have been Stefan then it would have only been somebody else as a another love interest for Elena, but i also believe that if there was no Stefan or a possible 'other guy' then there is no plot for a story or a show as its circled around not only Elena, but it's suppose to be a story of two brothers who fall in love with same woman. There kind of needs to be two guys, it makes it more interesting to read and watch that way.

@EllaEnchanted - Yeah, totally! If Stefan hadn't existed or had died during the serie, of course it wouldn't have been the same TVD. Because it's supposed to be a triangle between two brothers and a girl. But mines are just suppositions..like "..yeah, if there wasn't a Stefan, of course Damon would be Elena's first choice. They're meant to be in every case." or "I don't know because Damon is always going to be 'the bad one' that has to fight for her against 'the good one'.." You know what I mean?! Just suppositions, lol :P

DE are going to be end game regardless.

@vivalavida - Yeah i'm totally with you on all of that i know what you mean :) I think that yes the story is about the two brothers falling in love with same woman so yes there would only be someone else if it wasn't Stefan, but then i agree with that yes of course Damon would be Elena's first choice if there was no Stefan..obviously ;) But i also believe that overall once Elena comes to realise her true feelings, and things eventually develop between herself & Damon more then once she knows how she feels about both brothers..i just feel that she would choose Damon and fall harder for Damon than she ever has for Stefan, it goes like this Elenas love for Stefan i feel has had its time and developed it to the best it can, but with Damon its only just beginning and i don't think there is any limit or end to there love it will just keep on growing and growing..which is one of the many things that draws me to them there is just no ends to their true love & passion for one another. I'm glad that you created this pick :)

@EllaEnchanted - See, there is a Johnny Depp's quote that I truly love (and that man is totally a genius and a smart man).

With that I'm not saying that Elena doesn't love Stefan..man if she loves him! But please look at this in a objective way. Elena is only 17, and even if she's so mature for her age and has been through a lot, she has to do her own experiences, and it's not always gonna be Stefan..hehe what a coincidence! ;) Btw, a lot of tv shows (all, really, lol) tend to make endgame highschool relationships or anyway relationships that have been there since the teen-ager age. Don't forget that LJ loved Delena as much as we do, and she obviously wanted to do a DE endgame and there are a lot of evidences. Writers could know that, and I also think that if SE are going to be endgame in the books, maybe the writers that know how much we love them will make to us this gift to have them endgame in the show. But you know, it complitely depend on them and how they're going to develope the show. They don't follow the books at all, so if is always going to be like that, a Elena who's totally into Stefan and only care about Damon, it would be hard to figure them as endgame. But if they really want to make things complicated, it will be a question mark until the end. Like it has been Dawson's Creek with the Joey\Pacey\Dawson triangle. I mean, you really couldn't say which endgame is gonna be until the very end.

BUT, if writers are really in love with SE like everyone say, they can also play with us. What I mean? That they sure know that DE is the 80% of TVD fandom, so until the end they'll make us believe that Elena loves both equally, maybe Damon more etc etc..but at the end of the serie, who can say? At that point games are closed. Even if they made SE endgame, we really couldn't do nothing.
Ahah I'm not trying to be negative..I'm just saying all the possibilities :)

@Vivalavida - Agreed :) I don't think your being negative not all, its interesting and creates good debate to weigh up all of the interesting possibilities that could happen within the show. But you're are totally right there TVD fanbase conists of 80% DE and i would say a mere 20% for SE, and i am not saying that as a DE fan i am not at all biased for that reason, i say that because it could not be closer to the truth, and i'm sure the majority of people who are fans or even people who aren't fans (extremely hard to believe i know lol) of the show know that the heart of the show & for the most who tune in is Delena thats not an opinion thats just fact. And the most who are against them either SE or DB fans know the exact same thats why they get jealous & why they get so angry about DE. But Again as you say we will not know for sure until the series ends which i don't think is anywhere in the foreseeable future just yet lol, at least i hope not anyways.

So its decided then DE are endgame :)
