In my opinion, well, I never really feel safe here, to be honest. You never know what'll happen.

I saw this same poll on Fox News (Yes, I watch Fox News sometimes) that said 43% of Americans say no, 38% say yes and 19% are unsure.

I live in New York and it's a little weird(I'm used to it now) to see more security. I just want to say that...no they are not in every corner and it does not scare me to live here. Some people think New York is so dangerous, and they need to visit here before they judge! New York is better and I am glad I feel safer. There has always been security, especially in the major tourist attractions. The only difference is that now we are more aware and there are more people protecting us...thank God for that!

Your safety is NEVER guaranteed in any country. Something's always bound to happen! Maybe a little cynical, but........

Well I am not speaking for the whole country. I will never be able to because I only live in NY. I just think that I know 9/11 affected all of the country but it especially affected NY. I do feel safer here but like MajorDork74 mentioned we are never safe no matter where we are. I refuse to live in fear because no one expected it to happen the first time. There is more awareness but I won't argue with those that don't feel safe, I speak for myself.

I live in fear of Bush. He is the main threat to America. Why would anyone feel safer about having attacked a country that had zero to do with the 9-11 attacks? I mean really... you are safe from having a bottle of water spilled on ya in the queue to get on the plane, but that's about it.

Before 9/11 the US government acted like "the threat is very low" and all that. But now, after 9/11 they were like "AH FUCK, NOW WE GOTTA DO EVERYTHING."

i swear, all the good picks are from 2 months ago. i feel like the guy (or gal rather) who shows up half-way through a conversation and demands to know what everyone is talking about lol.
this depends on how you define "security". my own feelings are that security is a much more complicated issue than the simple definition of "freedom from external attack". i would certainly not feel very safe living in a country whose government can arrest and charge me without just cause, gather information on the minutest details of my life without my knowledge or consent, fail to provide adequate support to its people in the wake of a major natural disaster, or continue to wage a war despite the overwhelming disapproval of not only it's own population, but the international community as a whole.

I think that America is quite safe, and I think that the media kinda scares people too much. America has excellent security, and I don't think they'll let something like 9/11 happen again.

I definitly feel safter here. The security is a lot tighter now that it happened. It is absolutly terrible that 9/11 had to happen but the good thing that came out of it that security is tighter and there is a less of a chance of something like that happening again.

The only reason we would be safer is the fact that We no longer trust our government to lead us, which is the best damn thing to happen to this country. Now alls we need is a revolt to oust these political pigs.

If anything George Bush and his "War on Terrorism" has only angered more nations and made America more unsafe then its ever been, not just in attacks, but in things like preparing for natural disasters and violence within its own nation. When all you focus on is war its hard to keep people safe from anything else.

ever since 9/11, my life has been different. i suddenly realized that bad things do happen. And i dont even trust the government anymore. im afriad to go on planes, im afraid my town will be blown up, and im afraid of everything. i didnt even really know what really happened until 2nd grade! i was in kindergarden and everybody is talking about the twin towers, and i didnt watch the news so i didnt know what the hell was going on! then i found out my uncle lived a block away from the twin towers, and i thought he mightve died.

"thinks back to that day"
i remeber how dreadful that day was, it was truely a day to remeber

I will not say much about this subject but i will say this there ARE things happening that we dont know about and IT WILL happen again maybe not in hundereds of years and maybe in 10 years but that does not scare me what scares me is that people can not fight with others in battle anymore they have to hide and sneak in the shadows and wait till we are unware of what is happening and then.............people who did nothing die

idk, we don't know of all the situations that the FBI and CIA and the organizations operate under the table. i was watching this show and they were saying that they should tell the people everything that they had prevented since 911, but at the same time they were saying that it might make us realize that we are still a vulnerable country.

there was never any real threat to begin with, at least not from a bunch of guys who go home for lunch during a combat engagement. However we are getting some really great combat readiness. The problem is..we are wearing out our own military ground forces to the bone for CASH. Cold Hard Cash. The kind that black gold makes.
Where are all those 'sleeper cells" we were told about afte 911? Still sleeping...they haven't blown up a liquor store yet. What are they waiting for? Meanwhile we are kicking their asses...and after 10 years...no reprisals within our borders? I guess the FBI has tens of thousands of miles of border all plugged up? Sure they dooooo!

Otherwise, I don't think so. There's been an increase of awareness and paranoid, yes, surely, but I in certain terms I wouldn't call that good news.
