Hello everyone! I'm Veronica (a.k.a. ApplesauceDoctr :D), and hey, it's been a little while since I've written an article. It feels good to get back into the spirit of writing. :D
So, what have I today? As wewe can see, I'll be analyzing the song "Reflection" from Disney's Mulan. I made a lyric video for it about a week zamani and realized just how deep the song is! However, in this analysis, I'll also be taking a look at the extended version of the song. It shows a different side of Mulan that...well, you'll see soon enough.

Alright then! Let's take a listen to Reflection!

Movie Version

Look at me
I will never pass for a perfect bride
au a perfect daughter
Can it be
I'm not meant to play this part?

From this, we can see that Mulan knows that she can't be what society expects her to be - that perfect porcelain, tiled doll. It's just not going to happen, and as a result, she maswali herself. If she's not that perfect bride au daughter, then what is she? Who is she supposed to be?

Now I see
That if I were truly to be myself
I would break my family's heart

This excerpt here makes me think of Elsa. And Hercules. All of these characters want to just be themselves and fit in, but it's not that easy. For Mulan, she wants to be herself, but not if it means disappointing her family. She truly loves and respects them and is willing to try to be what society expects of her in order to maintain a good family image. As we've discussed, though, she can't do this, thus bringing us to the chorus:

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
Why is my reflection
Someone I don't know?

For some reason, I never really understood what Mulan meant kwa this, and here I am right now feeling like a complete dunce. xD
Whenever Mulan sees her reflection, she sees what she's trying to be - the "perfect porcelain, tiled doll". wewe know this kwa now. But she knows that's not who she is. She wants to be her true self while at the same time making her family proud. Of course, she feels that she can't be herself without giving the Fa family a bad name.

Somehow I cannot hide
Who I am, though I've tried
When will my reflection show
Who I am
Inside?

(That last line is repeated, kwa the way. ;D)
This basically re-establishes what she's already been saying. She hides her true self to try and fit society's expectations, yada yada. She awaits the day, if indeed there is a day, when she can be herself and not worry about dishonoring the family.

I'll bet (not really) you're thinking, "Wow, that's it? Short song." Indeed. It's a gorgeous song, but rather short. We'll now take a look at the extended version of the song. Why was the song trimmed? Let's find out!

Extended Version

Who is that perfect bride?
It's not me, though I've tried
When will my reflection show
Who I am
Inside?

The looking-into-the-mirrors bit should look familiar, as does this excerpt entirely. The only real way this contrasts with the awali excerpt I showed is that instead of her admitting to hiding herself, here, it's zaidi directly related to what just happened in the movie *cough cough Matchmaker cough*.
The inayofuata excerpt is where the contrast comes in.

How I pray
That a time will come, I can free myself
From their expectations

wewe know how the movie version mainly focuses on her wanting to please her family? I mean, yeah, she does want to be accepted as herself, but only if she can do so in an "honorable" way.
That gets thrown off a bit here. This suggests that she wants to be devoid from society's expectations altogether in order to live the life she wants. Let's continue on to see where I'm going with this.

On that day
I'll discover someway to be myself
And to make my family proud

Wait, haven't we gone over this already? Yep, we sure have! No need to talk this over again. It's the next stanza we want to take a look at.

They want a docile lamb
No one knows who I am
Must there be a secret me
I'm forced to hide?

Alright, let's see. She's saying that society is basically like this: We don't know who wewe are, and frankly, we don't care. But we expect wewe to be perfect. Got that? For someone they hardly know, society's putting a huge weight on Mulan's shoulders, and she's not happy about this. From that last line, she doesn't seem too satisfied with being "forced to hide" herself.
This is the part that makes this extended version of the song seem questionable in respect to what we actually saw in the movie. It makes Mulan seem a bit zaidi selfish. Sure, she brings up wanting to make her family proud, but the extended song primarily focuses on how she feels with these expectations. She's had it. She just wants to come right out and be herself without the tension of fitting into the role of the "docile lamb".

Must I pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time?
When will my reflection show
Who I am
Inside?

This excerpt makes my point much zaidi clear. What makes the extended version and movie version similar is the fact that Mulan obviously wants to be herself. However, in the movie version, she seems mostly disappointed that her efforts to fit in don't work, and she hopes that she'll be able to make her family proud someday. Here, though, Mulan seems uchungu, chungu about the fact that society has set these expectations on her. She's sick and tired of pretending to be someone she's not.

So, let's quickly compare and contrast the two. :D

Both Versions:
- Mulan wants to be herself
- Mulan wants to make her family proud

Extended Version:
- Emphasis on wanting personal freedom from society's wishes
- uchungu, chungu about these aforementioned wishes
- uchungu, chungu about hiding herself

Final Cut:
- Mostly just emphasis on her desire to be herself; no detectable bitterness

And there wewe have it! I hope wewe enjoyed kusoma this, as I had a ton of fun uandishi it. :) wewe may want to check out my link song analysis of "If wewe Can Dream" from a while back.
I'll bet that wewe either a) are going to listen to the extended song right now au b) already have, haha. :D
Well, that about wraps things up! Thanks so much for reading! Adios!

13. Elsa
I feel really bad for having her in last place, honestly. It's just I find her quite plain compared to the others. I don't hate au even dislike her I'm just not that interested with her and kind of feel like she could have made some better decisions.

12. Snow White
As before with Elsa, I don't dislike her I just prefer the others. The reason she's higher than Elsa is because I feel she handled her situation a lot better and has zaidi personality.

11. Anna
I'm pretty neutral about Anna, she has a very sweet and bubbly personality which I sort of like, but on the other hand that...

13. Elsa

She just bothers me. I think she is boring. She isn't boring in the way she doesn't do anything, cause she does. She creates a mess and becomes a diva and just... ARGH! I just find every single thing she does so completely uninteresting. I can't see why she is so loved outside fanpop. I think she should have remained the villain in the plot; I would have liked her more. I think I also would like her zaidi if she didn't sing "Let It Go". In my eyes she is an introvert the whole movie and then randomly sings a song about being...

I did my inayopendelewa Disney Princess orodha before, but now it's changed a LOT, so I decided to remake the list. Anyways, please keep in mind that this is my opinion, so respect my opinion and I'll respect yours. Enjoy the article! :)

13. Anna
I used to dislike her, but my opinions have changed. I actually like Anna now. Not a lot, and I still find her annoying, but I actually like her now. I still have some problems with her though. Like marrying a man wewe just met? Going into the freezing cold in a dress? She makes stupid decisions, and that also annoys me. She's still in last right now, but...

Ok, I'm pretty sure everyone knows kwa now that I'm not a huge Frozen fan! And I upendo ranting and having debates, so how about we do a debate again? (I know that they're going on in the foramu section but I'm going to do an makala because I don't want to differ from what they're talking about now.) this time, instead of talking about just Anna, Elsa, the parents, and the trolls, how about we talk about the positives and negatives of this movie?

How about I start with the positive section. There's got to be at least something I like about this movie, right?

The Positives

Bonjour! So basically what I am doing is a orodha of my favourite outfits; but I am sticking to one outfit per princess. Also this only applies to the first and original movie; there are no sequels included. This makala also includes Elsa and Anna. This is not a countdown; I tried to do one and it was too hard. I will also be talking about some of the accessories that go with that outfit, including shoes, jewellery, gloves, hairpieces etc. (There is only one outfit that Pocahontas wears, so there can only be one favourite. However I am still including her because I can still say some things...

Pocahontas was out helping her people gather chakula early one morning when Nakoma ran up to her. "You shouldn't be working since you've had those frequent dizzy spells." she advised. "Nakoma, I feel fine. Besides, the tribe could use all the help around here." Pocahontas reassured. "Okay, but Kekata's got a close eye on you." Nakoma replied. "If I get dizzy again, I'll take a break." Pocahontas promised. The reason behind the dizzy spells? Pocahontas was pregnant!

"So, have wewe told anyone else about the baby?" Nakoma asked. "I've told Mulan." Pocahontas answered. Nakoma was alittle surprised....

It's about time I got my punda into gear and write this article. I've been planning on uandishi this for far to long. This makala is about who I think belongs in the line-up the most. Before wewe get mad and start shouting that all the princesses belong in the line-up, I ask wewe to do two things. First, remember that I KNOW THAT!!! NO NEED TO TELL ME!!! This is an opinion. Second, read the whole thing before commenting, I have my reasons why I put each princess where she is.
Now, with that all out of the way, let's start....

The fact I hate this girl has nothing to do with why she's here....

This was inspired kwa Princesslullaby's List(s) that everyone wants to read, it's probably the makala I've read the most often. Though I'm not going to talk about score au uhuishaji because I feel those subjects need to be analysed a different way. This was a challenge for me, I found it impossible to do. And I know, my orodha changed once again. It's like it automatically shifts on its own every 5 months. But this time, I tried to be zaidi objective and fair, I don't know if it's the right thing to do because I think with my moyo sometimes. But I'm pretty confident so here goes nothing!

I was thinking about the fact that Middle-Eastern and Indian royalty back in the days would have what is called a harem. Jasmine's dad as far as we know doesn't have one. If Jasmine's dad had one it would be very likely she would have had shared living quarters with her steps and half-sisters and maybe aunts.

I think if jimmy, hunitumia had grown up in a harem she would been complete different and be 1)competitive and 2)she would also be Vigilant due to the number of X times she had been poison-if on purpose au kwa accident kwa the steps.

of course there's the fact Jafar could somehow 'use' her steps to get closer to her. So maybe that's one of the reasons why they didn't have a harem.

First, let’s look at the living environment of these girls. This will give context and incentive for their specific wants and needs.

PART 1: LIVING ENVIRONMENT

Snow, Cindy, and Aurora grow up isolated and have no (human) friend - they only have wanyama for company.

In addition to growing up isolated, both Snow and Cindy grew up orphaned young girls and directly suffer due to a jealous older woman: the Queen dresses Snow in rags and forces her to be a scullery maid; Lady Tremaine abuses, humiliates, and forces Cindy to become a servant.

PART 2a: SNOW - I’M WISHING
Summary: wants someone to...

Bonjour!
In my last few makala I stated my favourites out of the following movies. The objective of these makala are to bring out the good stuff in the sinema and not bash them down. So this isn't a countdown, however there is a ranking of where the movie sits on my favourites orodha (out of twelve for twelve movies)
I have done the other sinema in my mother makala and now I am doing Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Brave and Frozen.

I finally decided to update that list, because it has really changed from the last time I wrote it.
But when I started uandishi it, I was so confused and couldn't rank any of the DPs, I am probably the most indecisive person in fanpop (see what I mean when I say I can relate to Pocahontas?), so I decided to rank each DP's feauture separately (for example Belle's eyes: 10/10), because it's the only way for me to chose whose the most beautiful.
I just want wewe to know that the ranking of each DP's feature is NOT very accurate, it's just a silly way for me to finally figure out my list. The results...

I'm Wishing/One Song

I just really like the uhuishaji in this scene and how Snow and the Prince meet is really cute! The voice of Snow White is kind of annoying to me, but in this song I like it. The Prince actually has a great voice. I really like this one French version of Snow White cause her voice is just beautiful in this song. Here's the link: link...
