Because it was well-deserved. Also, punching is a lot less damaging that hitting someone with a dang frying pan.

Since this moment was actually intricate to the plot and says something about Rapunzel's character to prove Gothel wrong. Anna's moment was just a random, contrived attempt at inserting "Girl Power". That's just how I see it.

Um. This moment did not scream "feminists and girl power is good, and guys are bad." When Anna punched Hans, that is exactly what went through my head.

Uh, considering he tried to kill her sister and nearly let Anna die, Hans is lucky this is all Anna did to him. It has nothing to do with "feminism."

Good power stance too! :)

neither, honestly. I hate how hitting men is supposed to be funny. but at least Anna had a better reason for it- Rapunzel had no reason to hit him again! He could've gotten a concussion. All she had to do was blindfold him.

^ The guy slams into a cliff in a way that should have totally broken his spine. It's just slapstick humor.

As for the question, well she does do it twice. With the second time being admittedly less deserved than the first. I'm still gonna pick it though because I'm biased.

Eh- I don't have a particular love or hatred for either, but this one is more humorous. Though I must admit, the comments against Anna's make me want to vote for hers just out of spite. UnholyNoise is right- it isn't about "tough girls are cool, women=good, men=bad!!!!!" He sort of tried to take over her kingdom in a plan that included killing or allowing the death of multiple people. But yeah, how dare she punch him in the face! There's no reason for her to do so and it's just an attempt at girl power! How is Mulan the most popular princess on here when EVERY OTHER moment that can be taken as at all girl-powery is held against any other princess like some great moral failure?

I agree with Aang_Lite, Tangled is all about slapstick.

Don't get me started on how much I hate the Hans punch (and it's nothing to do with feminism or girl-power)! While I don't approve of hitting people in any case, at least Rapunzel hitting Flynn doesn't really strike me as an act of retaliation, which is exactly what Anna hitting hans was, no matter how you try to justify it. I think that sends a terrible message that it's acceptable, if not expected, to hurt/humiliate someone as long as they wronged you first, and it doesn't add anything to the story except to give the audience (and ovbiously the writers) a measure of sick satisfaction! Sorry for the rant... I'm just strongly opposed to retaliatiion, no matter the circumstances.

JNTA1234 picked rapunzel hitting flynn with the frying pan:
@rhythmicmagic It's not that, I think every princess conveys true girl power to some extent, it's just that this particular scene is just superfluous, unnecessary and unlike Rapunzel's scene it adds nothing to the story and barely anything to Anna's character. The difference is whenever Mulan, and most of the other princesses, does something Girl Power-y it's NECESSARY. The punching scene just solidifies the message that the movie is so blatantly trying to convey because the writer's aren't even trying to be clever about it, they just have some random out of nowhere scene because they know SJWs just want to see a princess punch someone. Anna's TRUE girl power moment is when she saves Elsa and gets frozen. And some may say we're overthinking it, and this has nothing to do with "Girl Power" but given all the other stuff this movie tries to shove down our throats does it really sound that far fetched? And let me ask this, has a MALE Disney hero ever done it? Just randomly punch the villain in the face. I'm legitimately asking, has there? And yes I will say that Anna was justified in punching him.

Yes, Hercules did. To Hades.

AdelitaI picked Anna punching hans:
I don't get why do people even associate with female supremacy. Some people on other source even said, "He hit the guy who didn't touch her." Simply the guy who intended to hit her beloved sister with a sword to death and who left her to die. What twisted priorities: punching is something outstandingly horrible what not even murders don't deserve, you can react with punching only at punching you but not at attempt to murder those who you love. So stupid.
I actually normally dislike sassy females and dislike when female sass and violence is treated as something charming and badass( and I agree that this moment isn't what makes Anna strong but neither it makes her a jerk). But when it's constant overreacting( like in Meg's case), it's one thing. Anna didn't overreact at all. This moment doesn't define her. I still consider Anna very warm, benevolent and friendly because normally she is like this. This moment simply prevents from beeing Purity Sue and makes her more relatable. I can't relate to how forgiving of other most of princesses are.

I love both! I would be concerned about the constant frying pan to the head, but this movie had a lot of cartoon humor that makes me not take it so seriously
