To me, all the 'fun' things Rapunzel had to do didn't make her seem happy, just mind bendingly bored to the point of crazy hyperactivity (she did an entire towers worth of chores in like 15 minutes. She was a whirlwind of hyper). Isolated in a tower, no contact with anyone but a chameleon and a woman who can't go five seconds without insulting you even when she's trying to keep you sweet, insane boredom (and only new things to do when Gothel saw fit to bring new things to do. She was re-reading books twice in a day, running out of places to paint) the fear of believing the entire outside world was a hellhole just waiting to kill you, being stuck in the same tiny space for years. Snow White's was a huge pile of suck too, but I would be happier (and less likely to go out of my mind) in her position. Snow didn't have Pascal, but she had a bunch of birds who were responding to her (like nodding and things) which isn't worlds below what Pascal was capable of. And do we know how much contact with other people like servants she had? I can't remember, but she didn't have any social anxiety, suggesting she hadn't been completely deprived of human contact. posted zaidi ya mwaka mmoja uliopita.
