The first cartoon I remember seeing when I was a little boy, was The Little Mermaid. I remember being completely mesmerized by it! It just blew me away! I was so fascinated by the songs, the characters, the story, all of it! And my love for the film is still as strong as ever! I will always love The Little Mermaid. It will forever have a special place in my heart <3! Some say, the more times you watch a movie, the more you will begin to like it less and less. Well, that's not happend to me and Mermaid. Quite the reverse, actually. I just love it more and more! There is just something magical about it! It brings back great memories from my childhood. The voice talent, the songs, and the good cheer just elevated it to greatness, along with the sheer imagination of co-directors/writers Ron Clements and John Musker. And most importantly, Alan Menken and Howard Ashman were at the top of their form in the film, and I still enjoy it immensely today.

Negative Opinion: To me, Frozen seems like kind of a commercialized sellout movie. While Tangled seemed trying to formulaically echo early Dreamworks with some of it's aspects, it still had a heart and character of it's own. But Frozen seemed like it was just taking the popular aspects of Tangled, as well as what they thought would appeal to certain demographics, and threw them into a plot that was kind of mediocre and off-kilter.

Positive Opinion: The Princess and the Frog is like one of my ultimate feel-good Disney movies. It's got a combination of humor and emotion as well as an engaging plot and developed, relatable characters that make it a really good movie for me to watch when I'm sick or in a bad mood.

Positive: Sleeping Beauty, while only my 3rd or 4th favorite DP movie, I hold in high regard as objectively one of the most well-made Disney movies of all time. The music and animation cannot be faulted. It's also progressive for its day in many ways (theme-wise and perhaps also artistically, which IMO is why it didn't do well in the day- it went over most people's heads). Phillip isn't afraid to challenge the political marriage standard. Three old ladies are the heroes. Aurora is less innocent than the usual fairy tale heroine. Which brings me to my next point- it is THE most pro-woman (not feminist) DP movie, maybe even of any Disney movie. Aurora is allowed to be feminine, compliant, and wish for romance without being portrayed as a silly airhead for it. The fairies all have housewifely, doting personalities (each of them still pretty different from the other simultaneously) and are the ones who save the day. Maleficent is much more of a symbol than real character, true, but she does well as an effective villain and unlike her two predecessors, is NOT motivated by jealousy of the heroine. 5 different female characters in a time that was stereotyped, often incorrectly, as sexist and anti-woman. Overall, a movie sadly underrated and far ahead of its time, even now.

Negative: While technically well done and far better in many ways than Frozen, I have so many issues with Tangled. The animation is pretty, yes, but lacking originality. The soundtrack is one of the most lackluster (at least some of Frozen's was catchy). The two 'heroes' are mainly motivated by selfishness for all they do and neither of them have original personalities, particularly the princess. Flynn is less than ideal as a role model for boys (until the very end) but at least he has a little depth to his character and isn't a Sue. Maximus is one of the most irritating sidekicks I've ever seen and is just not funny. Pascal is cute but kind of useless until the last minute. Gothel is the only remotely interesting, entertaining character but she's the bad guy who must get her comeuppance. The thugs are ridiculous- so because they have big dreams and like pretty blonde girls they're good? Yes, so did Hitler (sorry for the bad comparison but that's just poor logic). It's got a true Disney feel to it, which IMO is its best quality, but overall it's just a knockoff of Dreamworks from the humor to the modernization and is just a moving Disney Princess advertisement.

Positive: The Little Mermaid was the first Disney movie I remember watching. I have loved it ever since. I can't even describe how good it is. What's not to like? It has characters & a great soundtrack. The pacing is perfect. Ariel is the most charismatic Disney Princess IMO. Ursula is an awesome villain. Eric is a good character too. The only characters I don't care for are Flounder & Scuttle, I think their annoying but I love everything else about this film!

Negative: Cinderella is one of the most boring Disney movies ever. For the first half of the movie you are watching mice being chased by a cat. This movie spends way too much time with the mice in general. The soundtrack is not very good. The mice annoy me, especially when they start singing. Most of characters in this film are dull. Lady Tremaine is a lame villain. I think if this film spent more time with Cinderella, it would have been a much better movie.

Positive: Sleeping Beauty is a class of it's own. There is no other movie out there which comes even close to have this "moving painting" effect they achieved with this movie. Every single frame is a masterpiece. Of all the movies Disney made this is the one which will most likely stay unique forever. No one will ever even try something like it. I also consider it the most feminist movie Disney every made. It has a mostly female cast, it has three old and "ugly" ladies as heroines and while the bicker with each other there is nothing of the unreasonable jealously which is often randomly written into the female relationships.

Positive: Snow White, Cinderella Tangled and The Little Mermaid are the kind of movies which defined an era. They deserve respect for this fact alone. The fact that they provided the template for the movies which came after them made the original by default.

Positive: Of all the Disney Movies, Tangled has the best written romance. Rapunzel and Eugene are treated as equal and the moments they share are so well-written and so intense that they make the three-day romance believable. Especially the campfire scene is remarkable in this regard. And it is yet another movie which sends a strong message about equality. Rapunzel is girly, but she is never portrayed as a diz or stupid.

Negative: Frozen feels like Disney was pandering. And not even towards their usual audience but, of all people, to those relentless critics who are taking delight in ripping Disney apart at every opportunity. It has some great moments, but all in all it is an incoherent mess of a story. The sad thing is that I actually see how it could be ground-breaking, but Disney decided to go the way of the least resistance in the end. And Anna is exactly the kind of dizzy and stupid character I loathe - for both genders. I can't stand stupid.

Negative: Pocahontas has stunning animation, wonderful music, a very special design, but all this is wasted on a story and characters which are utterly bland. Disney should have never made a movie about this story in the first place but picked a genuine Native American legend instead.

Negative: Brave is the one Disney movie which really offends me. The Scottish stereotypes and the sexist portrayal of the male characters are so bad that it surprises me that the movie doesn't get called out on it more often.

Aladdin, it's the most well rounded DP movie. It has comedy, action, adventure, romance, fantasy and even a little drama. The characters jump off the screen with their personalities. The soundtrack is well done, the plot twists don't complicate the story and the comedy, while not for everyone, is very well done. It's easily one of the funniest, most entertaining, most exciting films in all of Disney.

Mulan is a very inspirational film, one of the few movies where the most valuable aspect is not the animation or the music but the morals and the story. It has a wonderful cast of characters, a kickass leading lady, a ruthless villain, and the side characters aren't shabby either with an epic atmosphere with compelling visuals.

Negative
Frozen, if is movie were a person it would be lazy, ignorant, pretentious, preachy, condescending, all style, no substance. The songs are well and I get that they "speak" to people but the story is rushed and overly simple, the characters are either caricatures or too bland and the plot holes are extremely glaring and hard to ignore once the songs stop clouding your judgement. It's poorly executed, half-hearted, unoriginal and basically Tangled for preschoolers.
