after the season 5 finale i was like oh come on can't they ever catch a break and the look on Bate's face breaks my heart

seeing how every time a major character has a baby one of the parents die though and neither Bates or Anna could cope if one of them dies

Bates and Anna did suffer a lot from Bate's horrible manipulative blackmailing unfaithful wife and the trial to everything that happened to Anna and the aftermath of that.
