fallout 3 takes place in the mwaka 2277, 200 years after a war over resources that ended in nuclear holocaust in 2077. The setting is a post-apocalyptic, retro-future, covering a region that includes Washington, D.C., northeast Virginia and parts of Maryland.[21] The game's landscape includes war-ravaged variants of numerous real-life landmarks such as the White House, the Jefferson and lincoln Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery and the Washington Monument. The area that the game is set in, known in-game as the Capital Wasteland, holds a number of small settlements of the descendants of survivors from the Great War. Many inhabitants were killed during the nuclear holocaust and the Wasteland is now little zaidi than a barren land nearly devoid of healthy water, food, plant and animal life due to the extreme radiation levels, however there is a small settlement in the north of the Capital Wasteland where plants are overgrowing the area.[22]

The player begins the game inside kuba 101, where s/he believes s/he is originally born, before venturing out into the Capital Wasteland and facing its many dangers. The Capital Wasteland is nyumbani to a number of mutated species of creatures such as two-headed cattle called Brahmin, radscorpions, molerats, and mirelurks. Many of these creatures are generally hostile to the player and will attack on sight. The Wasteland and the city proper is nyumbani to several hostile groups, including super mutants, feral ghouls, raiders, slavers, mercenaries, and robots. Of note are the various Vaults—underground structures designed as shelters to protect inhabitants from the dangers of nuclear war (and also for zaidi sinister purposes). In the Washington, D.C. area, many of the roads are blocked off with giant piles of rubble. The player can navigate around the city using a system of underground metro tunnels that connect with other locations (loosely based on the real-life Washington Metro).[23]

Because the game takes place following a nuclear war, cultural advancements have stagnated and, as a result, the game contains a 1950s utopian theme as evidenced in-game through posters and billboards with muziki from the time period.[24]

Ok. Let me get this straight. Some idiots built a town around an undetonated nuke. Some guy wants wewe to detonate the nuke because it's a "blight on the urban landscape". Looks like the fact that a nuclear explosion would wipe out and contaminate that very landscape doesn't occur to him. Then again, in this setting people use nuclear explosions to light up cigars, so maybe it's not that bad. A well designed quest!

Anyway, did wewe notice that the makala does not mention any option to do something differently? One would think that Todd would have illustrated au at least mentioned all the options...

The player can have a maximum party of three, consisting of the player's character, a dog named Dogmeat, and a single non-player character. Dogmeat can be killed during the game if the player misuses him au places him in a severely dangerous situation and he cannot be replaced (this was changed with the introduction of Broken Steel: the level 22 "Puppies!" perk allows the player to gain a puppy follower if Dogmeat dies);[18][19] it is possible to not encounter Dogmeat at all depending on how the game is played.[20] One other NPC can travel with the player at any time, and in order to get another NPC to travel, the first one must be dismissed (either voluntarily kwa the player au as a consequence of other events) au die in combat.

I walked into a rundown store somewhere deep in the wasteland. Gripped in my hands was a freshly stolen Submachine Gun, which I was awarded with after killing Dukov and his "girls". It's what I do. There were loads of radroaches crawling all over the place. So, just for the sport of it, I shot each and every one of them in the face. Guts splattered everywhere, and their bacteria-ridden bodies flew into the air. "Yummy," I took all of their meat and went in tafuta for Nuka-Cola, au maybe some psycho.
I found an easy-locked salama tucked away in a corner. Checking if I had some leftover bobby-pins,...

Not actually a fat man, which would in its own way be hilarious, the Fat Man is a "shoulder-mounted tactical nuclear catapult." In layman's terms, that means it's a hand held weapon that basically shoots nuclear bombs at people. It should certainly incinerate your target, but do be warned, there's a high possibility it will also incinerate everything around it (including your mates and possibly yourself), as well as leaving residual radiation.

The name comes from the sekunde atomic bomb that was dropped on Japan in 1945. Unsurprisingly, in the game's Japanese release, this had to be changed, with the Fat Man becoming the Nuka Launcher in the Land of the Rising Sun. In Japan, the side quest whereby wewe can choose to detonate the atomic bomb in the town of Megaton was also removed from the game.
