I'm over the age rang so I never really thought about that, but I guess as long as there not five or something its ok

I think age matters to a certain extent. This is not a site for children, and measures to prevent children from joining Fanpop are there to protect them (and Fanpop).
But I like users of all ages, some very young, some a lot older. If a user is 13 years old and is a nice person and contributes well, then that's great. If a user is 60 years old and an asshole, then they will experience my boot up their behind.

When you register, there's this little box you have to click that says I agree to the Fanpop Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and
am over or exactly 13 years old. That means you need to be 13 or older to join. It's that simple.

Tbh, I don't encourage parents to allow kids to go online and surf the net and stuff if their kids are under 12. The Internet generally isn't a child-friendly place. I probably sound really conservative but I really think it's for their own good.

I am seriously AGAINST it if you are under age and on this sight. DarkSarcasm clearly said and I quote

i didnt know that under age kids couldnt come here intle yesterday .... im 18 --- i dont any problums with my age here

but maybe under age kids should leave - cause there guys here that are like in there 30s

I don't mind- as long as little 6 year olds aren't talking about 'haw mai mami cuked biskits yesterdei' and little childish games like that or if 40 year old perverts aren't talking about how they want to 'dO NasTy ThinGS to YOU FreaKin WittLE kIDS' then I'm ok :)

I don't take sides on this,because everyone is different,regardless of age,age is just a number,to me actions speak louder than "ages" and truly I think,it depends how the person ACTS towards the spots and other fanpoppers that should determine their fate,rather than just their age

I don't care, UNLESS Little 5 year-olds are going on the SEX club, or the LADY GAGA 1 even the HARRY POTTER 1.

There is a reason Fanpop has this rule. It is not going to kill the kid if they wait until they're thirteen. Fanpop will still be here.

I don't mind. Some really awesome young people are here. You might know and like them but still you fight about it? *shakes head*

I've seen content that's not appropriate for minors under the age of 12. Plus, it's apart of the site rules with the age recommendation to join.

I just think younger people should stay on spots that are appropriate for their ages.

If you have to deal with fanpicks and pop quizzes that don't make any sense from 8-year-olds you'll probably understand.

As they have violated the Fanpop Terms of Service, users who have misrepresented their age at registration should be reported.

*Sigh*...Sides are just depressing.

For two main reasons; 1.) A good number of the 12 and under group have shown that they just didn't know how to voice opinions respectfully and got really butthurt when people didn't like the shows and what not that they did. 2.) It's for their own safety. There is no tight language rule. Cussing is done a lot on this site--I can't tell you how many times I've seen a 12 and under user get all upset about cussing. This is a social media site, of course swearing will be present. That's what the age restriction is for.
