The 2012 Olympic Committee is deciding if they want to use the new Zivkovic strips in the 2012 Olympic games. They have decided to test it out on a club in Warren Rhode Island called the Rhode Island Fencing Academy and Club (RIFAC). From experience, I know that this is a grounded strip. It is the length of a regular strip but instead of having to look up at the score box, fencers can maintain focus on fencing their opponent. This is because there are LED lights at each of the lines of the strip, and they light up red/green for an on-target touch and white for an off-target touch. The score box still displays the score, the time, the priority (if needed) and the touches.
