I remember visiting this website once...
It was called The season 6 return of a character confirmed! | Watchers on the ukuta | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
I’m just going to go ahead and put this all beneath a cut because we’re headed deep into Spoiler Country, including the return of a
cast member who has been absent for a couple seasons.
Last seen ducking out of the Red Wedding for a well-timed bathroom break, Brynden Tully aka The Blackfish has been missing since season 3. Catelyn’s uncle, played by Clive Russell, has been considered alive according to interviews, and fans have been anxiously awaiting his return.
says their sources confirm Russell was seen filming as the Blackfish this week in Corbet, Northern Ireland.
We reported in September that Jaime Lannister and Bronn would be journeying to the Riverlands together; happily the new spoilers confirm this! They also report that scenes with Nikojaj Coster-Waldau and Jerome Flynn were shot
There were scenes involving an assault filmed, with the Blackfish possibly defending the garrison and shooting flaming arrows. We’ll be seeing Jaime and the Blackfish having an argument, as well.
Fans have been wondering if a Blackfish return was in the cards for a while now, particularly since a Riverrun set was spotted in the works in Corbet. Wooden structures built by the set hinted at possible siege engines. The siege of Riverrun, and the role the Blackfish plays in it, is part of
so far are in line with the siege and Jaime and Blackfish’s disagreements from the novel. The new twist is Bronn’s presence; the show is apparently continuing the partnership between Bronn and Jaime into season 6.
With the Blackfish returning, can we hope for Edmure as well? Catelyn’s younger brother (played by Tobias Menzies) has been a hostage off-screen since the Red Wedding. Menzies has been busy with
days, but I’d love to see Edmure back if only to provide some resolution to that part of the story.
There’s a fresh photo of the tents outside Riverrun. They’re set up on the grounds of Linen Mill Studios- in the other photos in the set linked, you can see the studio buildings and the same ship/green screen
has used for most of the ship scenes for the past few years. It may not have anything to do with the siege, or it might- there is no way to tell at this point.
With the Blackfish’s return, I’m basically frothing at the mouth for season 6. What do you think of these new developments, readers?

Well…there goes my theory on Brynden being recast on the last topic. GF.
This just made my day! I screeched out loud and freaked everyone out.
Happy to read that. Still sad about no Illyrio Mopatis last season.
But…. how will they explain how BF has held RR for so long? It’s been months and months. Guessing the fresh water flowing through the castle and the incompetence of the Freys will factor in.
Regarding the set, as I said in the previous thread, It’s
spared no expense. It looks even more elaborate than Hardhome. So it’s gotta be consequential and big, not just a brief thing with no major dramatic payoff, or else I can’t see why they would go to these lengths —almost 30 Lannister tents and 50 Frey tents, all that siege artillery and the enormous tower / gallows, a reportedly functioning drawbridge, the gates of Riverrun, and an interior set comprising at least two big courtyards. Is it just me or does this scream “big setpiece” to anyone else? Certainly bigger than anything that happened in Jaime’s AFFC few chapters in Riverrun. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that whatever we’re getting at Riverrun isn’t just from AFFC, but also from TWOW —or at least invented material. The report implies there will be some action, which is already more than the books, while we will also have the conversation between Jaime and the Blackfish that so many book fans were waiting for.
It’s been years since the Red Wedding by this point, not months. At least in the show, anyway. It’s not exactly “1 season = 1 year”, as some claim (especially not season 4), but the timeframe is certainly larger than in the books. They could explain that the Blackfish has only recently taken back the castle. Or maybe it’s one of those sieges that go on for years; not exactly unheard of.
Jaime’s plot this season is shaping up to be very interesting. It may be the one I’m looking forward to the most.
Awesome, so glad he’s back. That was the longest bathroom break ever haha. And I’m assuming Jaime and co. are going to King’s Landing first? Is Cersei gonna send him there? The timeline for all this is a little weird.
When i read the headline on facebook, i was like chanting “Blackfish! Blackfish” followed by a big “YEEEEEEEEEEEEES!” when i read the news as a whole..
Since Jaime’s Season 6 involvement in the Riverlands now involves the Blackfish, I would expect some variation of the Lady Stoneheart storyline (LS herself, Arya filling her role, Beric filling her role, etc.) being adapted now, as that’s where his story is headed in Winds.
I also think that we’ll see Edmure again (Outlander spoilers incoming), as the main cast of Outlander leaves England at the end of Season 1. While I haven’t read those books and I don’t know how involved his characters are in the second book, I imagine he should have enough the opportunity to take a week or two off from (his character) raping everyone to film his limited role in GoT. Slap on a fake beard, film a bathtub scene (with one of the BWB from Season 3?), a Riverrun surrender scene and a gallows scene (which could be done at a distance, with a stand-in) and that’s all his AFFC material, so it shouldn’t take more than a couple days, I should think.
I knew he’d come back to us! YESSSS! !!!!!
Ok now all I want is for Thoros and his gang to show up as well and partner up with BF.
Maceless Fan: And I’m assuming Jaime and co. are going to King’s Landing first?
still be in King’s Landing by episode six. So whatever happens at Riverrun will happen in the last 3 or 4 episodes.
Yes, much frothing about the mouth is in order.
It depends, we could see the siege starting early and Jaime joining it later. I doubt they will bring in so many character and a big set like that for just a couple of episodes
Excellent news. I for one am particularly gleeful at the thought of seeing the Jaime/Blackfish confrontation on screen as well as Jaime’s reaction to having to work with the Frey’s. (Or even Bronn’s reaction to the Frey’s for that matter!)
Styr me a nice juicy slice of ginger minge please
So glad they sent Bron, he is just too awesome to be completly put aside like in AFFC!
What comes AFTER frothing at the mouth? Coma? If so, I’m there. Now to last another three months until first trailer that we can pick apart.
This might be my favorite development for all of season 6. The actor was pitch perfect in season 3, so very happy he’s returning!
And which main character would we be following, in that case?
That was the longest bathroom break ever haha.
This makes me a very happy Stark/Tully girl!
