In the early debut days people spoke zaidi of Yoona's drama character then they did SNSD. The fact that she is the face is because SM knows that the Korean market will and has fallen for her looks.

If she wasn't the image, she would still be maarufu look at Jessica and Taeyeon, they are way maarufu and Yoona is only zaidi maarufu because the Korean media likes her looks zaidi than everyone in SNSD.

So yes she would still be Queen of CF because of her look not her role, people would still want her at the center in some way because they find her zaidi pretty then everyone else.
