I know that everyone loves the Power of Nine but honestly is it function for the group. I like relatively everyone in the group however there are a lot of people and someone ilitumwa a swali that has got me thinking. "Is Nine Really Too Much"?
As an American, its not in my culture to watch variety shows to appreciate my "idol", wewe watch idols perform and their mvs and call it a day, but not SNSD. Half of their popularity comes from them being on variety shows au else no one would no anything about them because wewe can't see their personality in their performances au in their mvs and to me that is critical.
Now I am a firm believer that everyone in the group serves their purpose but I believe truly that some people are in the group to fill in the weak spot of some members au they prevent others from shining above others here are my example:
Taeyeon-main singer
Jessica-sings high chest notes
Sunny-sings and dances
Tiffany-sings low notes
Hyoyeon-main dancer
Yuri-main dancer
Sooyoung-can sing and dance
Yoona-dancing robot
Seohyun-she can sing and dance
See how a lot of people have the same job, what is the point of having two au three people doing the same job unless someone can't do their job properly and the others are covering for it. It doesn't make much sense for a group to be that big because no one is unique since everyone has to share similar roles. wewe only know how unique they are kwa their "individual" works like DJ-ing, musicals, Dance Battles, OST, au other variety shows
Do we now that Taeyeon can hold her high notes like a boss, no because she has to share her lines with other main singers.
Do we know that Jessica has lots of vibrato for being a high note singer, no because other members have high notes.
Do we know that Sunny has a very power voice high au low, no because Taeyeon takes that lead
Do we know that Tiffany can a unique voice, no because she has to share lines with the other singers
Do we know that Hyoyeon is a very diverse dancer, no because she has to share the spotlight with the other dancers thus taking attention away from her
Do we know that Yuri is the most fluid dancer in the group, no because she has to share the spotlight with others
Do we know that Sooyoung can sing in a tone that is very Jpop and appealing and that she has great control of her dance, no because she has to share the spotlight
Do we know that Yoona is like a machine at dancing and get the moves right without looking to rigid, no (unless she is in the center) because she has to share the spotlight
Do we know that Seohyun has a great voice and is equally a great singer, no because Sun and Soo are also.
Them being nine is only hiding their true talent because the light has to shared kwa so many people. If the group was smaller then we wouldn't have to rely on variety shows au fan-cams to tell our Marafiki au family how great the group without then rolling their eyes at the sheer number of the members.
