‘Amy’ Oh shit…he thought. While he was talking to Meredith he had completely forgotten everything about her. He was overwhelmed with joy when Mer suggested they should try again that he had blocked out anything concerning Amy, anything that would stand in his way when the upendo of his life confessed to him that she is in upendo with him.
Amy was his girlfriend. It was nothing serious just another one of his attemps to replace Meredith but nonetheless at this giving moment she was his girlfriend. She had hazel eyes and long light brown curly hair. She was elegant and not like Meredith at all aspects. From her behaviour and clothing to the way she made Derek feel.
Meredith looked confused. Derek had to take the call otherwise Amy would get really worried. He always answered her calls even to just say that he couldn’t speak at that moment. But if he’d answer Meredith would understand and she’d hate him all over again and he can’t afford to lose her again but he has to see through his relationship with Amy before he tries again with Meredith. He excuses himself and goes out of the bedroom to answer the phone.
>” hujambo baby, what’s up? “ Derek asked.
>”Hey sweetie, where are you? Hospital? “ Amy replied.
>” Uh yeah, how did wewe guess?” Derek was really nervous. He didn’t expect her to call right now and he surely didn’t want to screw it up with Meredith again now that they might actually had a real chance to their future.
>” Is that a real swali Derek?” Amy asked. “Its not that rare that you’re held in the hospital at night.” Amy added with a disappointed tone which made Derek’s moyo sink. She was a really great women who loved him but he couldn’t return her upendo because he had aliyopewa away his moyo long zamani and frankly he didn’t want to get it back but he had a bad feeling about telling Meredith.
>”Sorry Amy I’ll be back as soon as possible.” Derek said.
He knew he’d have to be honest to all Meredith, Amy but to himself too so he had to let Meredith know. kwa the time he finished the call and walked back to the bedroom again Meredith was laying on the room hafl-asleep her light snoring filling the room and Derek felt so content even kwa watching her. However he had never been sadder because he was likely about to break her moyo again. He walked to her side and kneeled down to meet her height as he slowly caressed her cheek with one finger and pulled some hair that had fallen on her face behind her ear.
>”Mer…” he whispered trying to wake her up.
>”Hmm..” was the reply he got and he just chuckled. God she was perfect, she couldn’t be better. Better didn’t exist and never will for him.
>”Mer…we should…um I mean we should…I have something… I need to tell wewe something important.” He added hesitantly.
>” Mmm ok. You’re making me a bit worried, just in case wewe wondered.” Meredith alisema with a slightly amused tone, but Derek didn’t seem to relax to her joke au follow through like usual and Meredith’s concern was getting bigger and bigger kwa the dakika as she was trying to study him and she met his eyes which were an open window to his moyo and would always let her know of what he thinks. Once they locked eyes she saw the guilt that was hiding behind their valleys and felt completely helpless not knowing what was going to follow. Derek then started speaking while he took Meredith’s hands in his and enclosed them in his warthm. Meredith relaxed in the safety of his touch but Derek was still stiffened.
>”Is it about the phonecall wewe got earlier ?” Meredith asked.
>”Yes.” Derek answered a bit stunned that Meredith managed to comprehend him despite his efforts.
>”You can tell me…” Meredith added hesitantly.
>”Well its wewe know, I um…. I mean after wewe left… I… I’m seeing someone.” He alisema rather fast and in a low voice, barely louder than a wishper but he realised a moment later that Meredith heard him clearly. The moment the words came out of his mouth Meredith pulled her hand out from his and moved further away on the bed. He extented his hand to songesha her closer to him but she refused to take it and got up and walked at the corner of the room as further away from his reach as possible.
“I am so stupid” Meredith thought loudly. Derek moved mbele but she took a step back hitting the closed door with her back, moaning a little in pain as the doorknob hit the small of her back. Derek run to approach her, he’d always get overprotective and overly concered whenever she was in pain au danger. At least he used to. Meredith waved her hand in the air signaling him to not come and he did as she wished. He knew better than to approach her right now.
>”Meredith please.” He said.
>”No Derek, I was stupid to trust wewe again with my heart. I was stupid for thinking you’ve changed. wewe know you’ve always alisema I’m the upendo your life but you’ve never really done anything to prove it to me. Words Derek, wewe do well with words but your actions onyesha me the total opposite result of what you’re trying to onyesha me.” Meredith alisema and too a large breath trying to hold back the tears that were threating to attack her cheeks. She would shed another tear for him and even if she would she wouldn’t break in front of him. Never again. He’s not worth it she’d think, except he is because to her he truly is the upendo of her life even if she wouldn’t tell the exact words to him her actions proved her feeling. After she left she had some meeningless one-night stands but never a relationship, no one is going to ever replace him she’d think so why hurt other people and drag them to the bottom with me. So she dedicated her life to her kids.
>”That is not true Meredith.” Derek alisema in a firm tone.
>”It is true Derek. Maybe wewe don’t want to admit it but I don’t think you’ve ever truly loved me.” Meredith alisema letting him know what she thinks.
>”What are wewe talking about Meredith ?” Derek yelled and immediately regreted it. “You’re the upendo of my life.” He added softly.
>”That is what wewe keep saying but apparently you’ve moved on. Had I been the upendo of your life I would have been worth waiting a whole lifetime in the first place and even after what happened I wouldn’t be easy to replace. wewe can’t replace the upendo of your life.” She finished with a uchungu, chungu tone, a hurtfull colour was decorating her voice which seemed to be getting Lost kwa as the dakika went by.
>”Meredith…” he pleaded for her to listen but he knew that moment that he had already Lost her again and probably forever.
>”No Derek… leave, I can’t take it anymore.”
