I admit, for the “Reference Rundown” I’m a little bit out of my depth this time around, since my knowledge about Japanese folklore is a little bit sketchy. I know that the motive of the “monster” which falls in upendo but either can’t resist its true nature au turns against the chosen upendo interest because of a misstep is fairly popular. Beautiful woman in Japanese folklore are rarely a good thing. But overall, it is simply out of my area of expertise, so I will concentrate on the references to spiders in general.
