Young Hermione doing underage magic?

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, it states that Hermione eagerly accepted her invitation to Hogwarts, and took to studying magic before she began her first year, even performing a few spells successfully.

How is this possible, with the M.O.M. laws about underage magic?

"Underage magic is any magic used kwa a wizard au witch who is under seventeen years of age outside of school, where children are permitted to use magic as part of their education. It has been banned under the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery since 1875, and compliance with it is monitored and enforced kwa the Improper Use of Magic Office at the Ministry of Magic using the Trace Charm. Children under the age of eleven, who have little control over their abilities and no wands, are exempt from the law, though their parents are expected to keep them under control in wizarding families." Hermione would have only been eleven years old...

Its only in movie they have shown Hermoine doing underage magic, not in books.
Have wewe noticed that in 2nd movie also, instead of Arthur Weasely, she repaired Harry's broken glasses when he met her at book shop.

And in the POA movie 1st scene, not book, Harry was doing 'Lumos' spell.
Thats why I don't like sinema much. They have just snow-balled everything in movies!!

ok, i was confused because i read this in the Harry Potter wiki: "Hermione proved to be a witch of exceptional skill and talent. Even prior to beginning her education at Hogwarts, she practised some simple spells, which all worked.[4]" This is the citation that follows: "4.0 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.5 4.6 4.7 4.8 4.9 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and the link "Philosopher's Stone" directs to the wiki about the book, not the film. I have yet to verify this in the book though, because I don't remember where it would be mentioned.

I think it might be the ONE THING that Rowling didn't think about. She's old, give her a break. Though, well spotted. :D:D:D

Yes and no. She might've not known, au the rule might not apply to her yet. The rule probably applies itself as soon as she/he steps foot on hogwarts ground. she might've not known, but she probably did, seeing as she's a read-a-holic

But as I said, the rule might've not counted for her, seeing as she wasn't officially a "witch" yet.

Well, that might not count until they actually start school, but I'm not sure.

They do use underage magic in GoF at the World Cup, though. Harry, Ron, and Hermione each use "Lumos" in the forest.
