there are so many sad moments! I could think of a few other but thought there were already a lot of choices haha. They are all so heartbreaking so it's VERY hard to choose.

I choose this one because I remember how sad it was..Harry overhead mr weasley and a few other members of the order talking about how they suspected voldemort was in his head! (because he witnessed Mr weasley being attacked)... and then it was so sad how he isolated himself from everyone because he thought nobody would want to talk to him if voldemort was in his head! so sad...

but they were all very heartbreaking really.. i was so sad when harry's wand broke! and when percy left that was horrible.. and also when he sees his parents in the mirror.. there are so many sad moments!

seeings his parents would have been terrible! (especially when the mirror was taken away, and Harry lost the sense of kind of having a family)

I thought this was very sad. When Ron starts dating Lavender Brown would be my second chose.

I cried when Snape showed Dumbledore that his patronus was a doe and we find out the he's always been in love with Lily. It was so heartbreaking!

Well, not just when he asks his dad this, but that entire scene where he walks knowingly to his death. I was sobbing during that part!

this was so sad with hagrid crying... and the poor baby being left with the horrible dursleys haha. But there are a lot of really heartbreaking moments in harry potter!

I can't believe I don't remember a thing about the 6th or 7th books!

i broke down here, & because of how heartbreaking it is, The Prince's Tale(name?) is my favorite chapter in any Harry Potter book

This was so sad! all of them were, but i loved finding out why snape hated harry so much it was a real eye opener!

that scene where she has the birds flying around her head broke my heart. I will definitely be upset if that is not in the films. it's just a very beautiful and tragic scene for her. truly shows the enormity of her love for him. -_-

This whole scene had me in tears. They were together again.

That was so sad but the thing with me is i can't cry while reading books movie sure but i don't cry while reading books. And don't say i have a black heart because it is something i just can't do

even though i knew he wasn't going to die i was soo scared! i felt so bad for harry...i was in tears almost. and the fact that his parents were there made me cry even worse because they might have to see their son die.....(sob)

There were so many! The way that J.K.Rowling managed to tie everything together and mix in such heartbreaking moments with such drama and action was amazing. I think it is a tie between what I picked and when Harry asks James if it will hurt but I picked the Snape one because you hated him for six books and then in the space of one chapter you realised just how amazing he was. That really is great writing.

By this time I was already soaked in my own tears from the pensieve, but THEN Harry just had to ask a certain question! It really got to me.

it was a close one betweeen this one and When Harry and Ginny Break Up/When Ron starts dating Lavender Brown, breaking Hermione's heart/When Harry sees his parents in the Mirror of Erised/When Harry asks James if it will hurt to die before he enters the forest.=)

Then the Lupin/Harry fight.
Those are the times I cried, except for the deaths.

I just can imagine his feelings at that moment. Just wanting everything to be over/not so difficult... Wishing to be save under ground next to the people wo'll love him. But instead of that facing a cruel world...

lovewhenyoulove - so did I although I rarely cry on movies or while reading books. Actually after reading DH I was devastated for three days or even more, which has not happened to me before.

Most of them was heartbreaking,but since hermione is my favorite,its hurt the most to see her so heartbroken.

This is what makes JKR such an amazing writer. It was seriously so touching, and in the end, Snapes love for Lily is what won the war.

I picked this one because it was the first (and only come to think of it) time that we get to see the softer side of Severus. My next pick would be when Harry sees that Snape has always loved lily

I bawled at this part. It was so heart touching, it was unbelievable. A lot of good choices were there, but I had to choose this one.

I won't add it, because I'm not sure it would get many votes, but I think one of the more heart breaking moments for me was just before Harry went to die and had his parents, Lupin and Sirius with him and he looks at Lily and says "stay close to me."

Poor Harry - up until that point he's been this bog super hero, saving the world... but, in the end, he's scared. He just wants his mom. Guh.

Gosh this was hard...

it was the first time he actually saw them when he was a baby he didnt really register their faces. they were his deepest desire and he could never have them. it was so sad

It was really hard to choose but this bit made me bawl my eyes out.

I was rereading the book when my mother died. I was on this chapter, and read this only an hour or so after. I realized that this was what I wanted more than anything, just like Harry.

Also when Harry finds out that Snape always loved Lily and also that they fell out of a friendship.

the scene with the birds flying around totally broke my heart, it's so tragic and beautiful and emotional, it really shows how much she loves him, then it would be the fight between her and ron at the ball, i really hate seeing her so hurt and heartbroken, ron is such an ass!

And Harry seeing his parents in the mirror, "Always", and "Look at me." I don't know why, but this one just gets more than any of the others. I think it's because it shows that, despite everything he's been through, despite how old he acts, Harry is still just a kid.
