I think they were really important for the development of the genre because they've inspired many metal bands.

You're not alone, I'm a shabiki of many metal bands and also the Beatles. I upendo quite a few classic rock bands, and even though the majority of my favourite bands and musicians fall into some sort of rock genre, I can enjoy other genres of muziki too (a couple of other favourite genres of mine are jazz and classical).
