I'm still learning this history...and after knowing the background of Revolutionary War; I think America didn't regret at all...until England cried in front of him lol XDD

History wise, my contry was overjoyed to be free of England.
Hetalia wise, America regretted it a bit, I think. Who wants to see poor Iggy that way? D:
I used to hate Britain when I was little because of the revolution, but because of Hetalia I love the UK now... X)

Hetalia: utter despair for the sacrifice he saw England demonstrate while harboring fading animosity for him.

Real life: relief for the peace and liberation from England.

From what us Americans learned: Party hard while the English hand us a single finger saluteXD But in Hetalia... Probably the same thing. I would hope..

Even in the colonies there were people who opposed the war an were loyal to the king. So I don't think the loyalists were all too happy. (Even before Hetalia whenever we learned about the Revolutionary War i was half rooting for the British. And I'm American.)

History wise: Happy as hell to get away from them
Show wise: Happy to be free, but probably sad too.

You could see it in his eyes, he was starting to get choked up :(

war is just to much sadness

America didn't give a damn, they were happy to get rid of us. The only reason they were sad was because their people died. England was only upset because we lost a good trade and a lot of money from that country. But now, we could care less.

The shows a bit a different but it seemed liked Alfred was a really sad about what happened with Iggy.

I chose that he felt relief. Not saying he felt numb and didn't care (because, think about it: England was practically a father to him, and England treated him like he was his kid or something.) For real history, people were apparently relieved and happy to be independent back then, but this is Hetalia as an anime, and real life history doesn't really apply here. xD But anyways, I think of it as bittersweet for America, though he felt a little more relief than sadness.

actually, I think he had mixed feelings. he was sad he would be parting with his brother, but he knew it was right for his people. I seriously don't like the fans who say "I HATE AMERICA BECAUSE HE MADE ENGLAND CRY!" hey, its completely okay to feel sorry for England, but what you shouldn't do is hate history because of Hetalia dramatizing it. we had reasons for the war, and im glad our country is free. but you shouldn't replace history with Hetalia.

again, it's totally fine to feel sorry for iggy, but don't hate America (the actual country in real life) just because in Hetalia he "made England cry."

I think he was sad inside that they had to separate so violently, but he knew it had to happen eventually. I think he was happy to be independent, though. After all, most Americans were elated. That had to have affected his emotions.
Also, in history, remember the Loyalists? They didn't want to separate from Britain. So, I feel like America would have felt the same as his people- mostly full of joy, but still a little sad.
