WOW!! Just WOW!! When I received the barua pepe from goonies, informing me that my fellow FanPoppers had voted for me for Horror sinema shabiki of the Month, that was about what my reaction came to. It took a moment for the message to sink in. As I told goonies in my reply barua pepe to her, once I had cast my vote for the shabiki of the Month, I forgot to add it to my updates, and it went out of sight, out of mind. So this was really a surprise.
So, thanks to everyone who voted for me. I’m really thrilled with this honor. I especially want to thank Aerohead, who was kind enough to offer the title to me for the mwezi of July, even though we had tied for the win. Thanks so much!!
To get in the “horror-fying” frame of mind, I have cranked up my iTunes and now I am playing horror movie theme songs at juu volume to set the mood for the answering of the maswali in this interview (The “Halloween” theme song is going right now). Now, on to the really fun questions!!

What do wewe find appealing about horror sinema and why?

Oooh, tough question. What do I not find appealing about horror movies? Let’s see, I like the thrilling sensation which goes up and down my spinal cord when the villain is stalking his/her victims. I upendo the chilling muziki that usually gets going right before the villain makes a kill. I upendo the really intricate storylines that keep wewe guessing until the end of the movie. Those types are few and far between. I think what I upendo most about watching horror movies, especially in the last (almost) mwaka is that now I have a club to come and chat with fellow horror movie lovers about the ups and downs and everything-in-betweens of hundreds, if not thousands, of horror movies.

What was the first horror movie wewe ever saw (if wewe can remember) and how old were wewe when wewe saw it?

Hmmm…this is an easy and a hard question. The first horror movie I ever supposedly saw, I only found out from hearsay from my parents, because I have absolutely no recollection of it. Apparently when I was toddler-age I watched Alien with my father, but, as I said, I can’t remember a thing. That’s just what they told me. The first horror movie I actually remember seeing was Poltergeist probably around the age of seven au eight. That continues to remain a inayopendelewa with me to this day.

If wewe had a chance to be in a horror movie, what director would wewe want to work with and what type of horror movie would wewe want to be in?

Another tough one. I would upendo to work with Alfred Hitchcock au Wes Craven. I believe both of them have done phenomenal work in the horror genre. If I could choose any type of horror movie to be in, I would upendo to do the ever-popular slasher au psychological horror. Both genres are my vipendwa in the field of horror.

Who got wewe into horror and when?

I don’t think anyone got me into horror; I just kind of drifted into it. I do have Marafiki who are big horror buffs like myself, but if I had to choose one person, I’d probably say my dad. We used to watch tons of sinema together of all different genres and that was probably where it started. If I had to recall an age, I would say sometime after I got my first taste with Poltergeist.

Do wewe only watch horror sinema au have wewe read any horror novels and, if so, which do wewe like better?

I don’t really read horror novels. The last time I read something that could be classified as horror would probably be the young adult horror novels written kwa Christopher pike and R. L. Stine. Since then, I have only really read sci-fi, ndoto and techno thriller (made really maarufu kwa the late Michael Crichton). I do have a desire to someday read the classic horror novels Dracula and Frankenstein. Actually, upon further reflection, I did read Edgar Allan Poe in high school, but I would say I still prefer the horror sinema to horror novels.

As a horror fan, what type of horror do wewe watch and what would you suggest for new mashabiki to watch if they were just getting in to horror?

You just had to ask, goonies, didn’t you? I am sure there are plenty of other FanPoppers zaidi qualified than I to suggest that critical movie that could make au break a newcomer’s first exposure to the genre. To start with my inayopendelewa type of horror movie is the slasher type au the psychological thriller type. The horror sinema that make up the juu of my vipendwa orodha are Sleepy Hollow, Thir13en Ghosts, Ghost Ship, Poltergeist and Storm of the Century. As for someone who is just getting started in the genre, I probably would not recommend any of those (except maybe Poltergeist) as most of the others have garnered mixed reviews and I can see why that is so. For first timers, I would suggest the classic trio: Halloween, Friday the 13th and The Nightmare on Elm Street. And I do mean CLASSIC – none of this remake stuff.

Well, that concludes the interview put forth kwa the charming goonies and I hope that wewe have learned a little bit zaidi about me.

Just remember, "There are far worse things awaiting man than death." Cheers!!

That would be Chucky: Childs Play. I was 8 at the time and I watched it over and over!!!
