A thousand things flashed through Onyx’s mind, until it finally settled onto one thing, Anger. Not directed at Misty of course, it was directed at Judy, the woman who had driven Misty to the edge. In the midst of Onyx’s thoughts, he noticed a gentle touch on his arm. Onyx looked at Misty. His healing had seemed to work, but there was still one blue and yellow bruise on the left side of her face. Misty’s eyes were filled with tears, and some spilled down her pale cheeks.
“Onyx, are wewe mad at me?” she asked. Onyx frowned, and pulled her into his arms. “Misty, I could never be mad at you. You’re my best friend, the sister I never had.” Onyx’s sweater became damp with tears.
“Misty, it’s not your fault. wewe didn’t ask for these powers, and it’s unfair for anyone to ask wewe to be able to control them, it was an accident. If anything, your gift saved you.” Onyx comforted Misty.

Misty was in shock, not because of what had happened, but because of Onyx. He didn’t hate her, au blame her for what happened. She was so grateful for a friend like Onyx. As the skies grew dark, and the moon rose, the pair drifted to sleep.
Misty awoke from nightmares throughout the night. Possibilities of what could have happened. Misty became sure that if things didn’t turn out like they had, she would have died that night. Onyx was right, I wouldn’t be here right now, if it wasn’t for my gift.

Onyx and Misty took the following week off school, recovering from the past few days of trauma. They spent their spare time mastering their gifts, Misty had discovered that she could levitate and sense power, as well as manipulate air, while Onyx discovered that on juu of controlling water, he could sense people’s emotions and heal.
It had also become apparent that when Misty and Onyx combined their powers, they could manipulate the weather, creating rain and wind storms. But their gifts had some minor drawbacks. Since healing Misty, Onyx had himself become ill, Leaving Misty to return to school alone.
Misty silently glided to school, about two inches above the ground. This was the first time this mwaka that Misty had gone to school without Onyx, Misty was nervous, but knew that she would be able to see him as soon as school was over.
Misty lowered herself back to the ground and set foot in the school hall. Misty sensed and energy shift. She sensed 2 new powers, similar to hers and Onyx’s, but she couldn’t pin point a location for them. Misty spent her first 2 periods thinking about the strange new energy, when recess came, she discovered the source.
Two new students entered the hall; a short girl with dark green hair and zumaridi, zamaradi eyes was followed kwa a tall boy, with black and red hair. The energy seemed to heat up; they must be the cause of it. The short girl looked at a slip of paper and headed for a rusty locker, she tried to enter the code but to no avail.
Misty walked over to the new student. “Here let me help wewe with that, the doors stick on occasion” Misty informed her punching the juu and middle of the locker door simultaneously. The door swung open. Misty noticed the new girl’s eyes; they were a deep emerald, unlike any she had seen before.
“Thanks, I’m Talia; I’m new here as wewe can tell.” She giggled and held out her hand misty shook it. Misty felt an Earthy aura emanating from her. Misty met her eyes for a moment, forgetting that she had never seen her before. Talia gasped, but not in fear. It seemed that she was intrigued kwa Misty’s eyes.
“I’m Misty and no I’m not blind, I was just born like this” she joked then smiled warmly. “Oh, here comes my brother.” Talia indicated to the tall male Misty had seen before. It felt like the room temperature went up 10 degrees as he approached.
“You found our lockers I see” Talia’s brother stated, his voice was deep and he sounded angry for some reason.
“Misty this is my brother Seth, Seth this is Misty” Talia introduced. Misty looked up at Seth and smiled, she noticed his eyes. They were coal black with red flakes, Misty noticed she was staring and looked away quickly.
Misty shook Seth’s hand and noticed that he was the chanzo of heat. “Nice to meet wewe Seth, and wewe too Talia, I better get going, fourth period starts any minute.” Talia smiled and waved in response “Nice to meet wewe too Misty, I hope we can be friends!” She alisema happily, Misty noticed Seth as she walked away, that look in his eyes, Sympathy. She hated, Sympathy.

Misty felt pretty miserable when Talia walked into class, she smiled politely at her then looked out the window watching the waves, she missed Onyx now zaidi than ever, and wished he was here with her; he would have handled that so much better than she had.
Talia took a kiti, kiti cha inayofuata to Misty. “Hey, sorry about my brother, he can be a bit of a jerk but he is a nice guy deep down.” Misty smiled at Talia; she was glad that she was making a new friend.
Still, she was a little upset. “I hate sympathy” Misty muttered under her breath before the teacher came in. Misty thought she had gotten away with it but Talia had heard her, for a note landed on her meza, jedwali in the shape of a flower. It read:
What do wewe mean sympathy?
Misty turned the maua, ua over and wrote:
Your brother, there was sympathy when he saw my eyes.
She heard Talia suppress a laugh then another maua, ua landed on her table.
My brother has sympathy for everyone; he likes to feel mightier than them. Moving here has made it worse.
Misty quickly replied.
How do wewe mean worse? What happened?
But Talia never answered. After sixth had finished, Misty went straight to the beach, sitting herself on the sand. She heard soft footsteps approach her, and to her surprise, Onyx sat down inayofuata to her.
“Onyx, are wewe mad at me?” she asked. Onyx frowned, and pulled her into his arms. “Misty, I could never be mad at you. You’re my best friend, the sister I never had.” Onyx’s sweater became damp with tears.
