Cuddy had just put down the book she was kusoma and was shutting off her bedside lamp when House quietly made his way through her front door.
Cuddy didn’t hear him. She curled up under her sheets and pulled them all the way up to her chin, ready for sleep.
House took off his shoes and threw his koti, jacket blindly on a kitanda in the living room. He went to the jikoni to grab a glass of water, breathing deeply, tired after a long siku of trying, in vain, to solve his latest case.
Cuddy heard her door squeak open and a slim ray of light made its way to her eyelids from the hallway. Not having fallen asleep yet, she twisted her neck, lifting up her head to see what was going on. And then she saw him, House, standing in the doorway of her bedroom, outlined kwa the hallway light, making his way in slowly.
“Did wewe solve your case? I- I didn’t think wewe were coming?” she asked, a little confused.
“Patient is relatively stable but we still don’t know what’s wrong with him” he answered while taking off his jeans . “And…” he rolled his eyes “I missed you” he added, almost against his will.
Cuddy looked at him tenderly, a wide smile claiming her lips. She scooted backwards to make room for him in the bed, but House made his way around it, to her side, and slipped under the sheets so that her back was against his chest, his arm snaking around her to rest his hand on her abdomen, right below her breasts .
Cuddy shivered slightly at his touch but relaxed in his arms. She moved back to the center of the kitanda to make sure House wouldn’t fall off and turned her head to look at him, her hand now resting on his bicep.
“I’m glad you’re here then.” She kissed him tenderly before turning back, letting her hand drift along his arm until their hands were intertwined. House placed a chaste kiss on the back of her neck, moving closer to her so that the whole lengths of their bodies were in contact. He inhaled the scent of her shampoo before finally closing his eyes, allowing them both to drift slowly into a peaceful sleep.
Everything was in its place.
