With 2014 officially in the vitabu -- and K-pop performing better on the charts than ever -- we now take a look at the video that earned the most maoni in America. Billboard can exclusively reveal the juu 25 K-pop video with the most maoni in America, according to YouTube.
Just like the 2013 ranking, the indomitable PSY takes the juu slot with his latest hit. "Hangover" takes No. 1 while a slew of familiar faces and a few newcomers jiunge him at the top.
EXO, who Billboard eyed as an artist to watch for big Stateside moves in 2014, proved to be the juu group that captivated U.S. fans. The Korean version of the band's "Overdose," performed kwa EXO-K, ranks No. 2 on the orodha while the Chinese version, kwa EXO-M, is the 24th. EXO did not release new muziki as the full group this year.
The juu six slots are controlled kwa acts under labels YG Entertainment (housing PSY, G-Dragon, 2NE1 and Taeyang) and SM Entertainment (EXO, Girls' Generation) while HyunA (representing Cube Entertainment) breaks the pattern at No. 7.
Newcomer band HIGH4 had a huge hit on the K-Pop Hot 100 and lands the highest entry for a new group with their IU collaboration "Not Spring, Love, au cherry Blossoms." Fellow newbies Akdong Musician and GOT7, the latter with two entries, also bow while SHINee member Taemin proves that his solo debut was a success with an entry in the juu 20.
Notably, girl groups rose in popularity on this year's list. While the 2013 ranking only saw female groups make up 20 percent of the top-viewed vids, this mwaka they represent 36. And while boy bands represented 40 percent of 2013's list, this mwaka male groups only account for 28.
