End of Chapter 23
I watched as the doctor examined her head, deciding that the cut was bad enough to need stitches. He asked her if he should call her father, but Bella quickly told him that he didn't need to call him..that she would tell him about it when she got nyumbani and that Charlie wouldn't be surprised because she falls all the time.
The doctor didn't seem surprised and agreed that he wouldn't call her father as long as she promised to tell her father. He numbed her head with something then placed 7 stitches in the wound so that it was held together. He put some gauze on juu and secured it with tape before he released her, making her promise to return if the pain came back au if she started getting headaches.
Bella asked me if I would drop her off, something about how she had to make chajio, chakula cha jioni for Charlie..how that would help him buy the lie of tripping. Reluctantly I agreed with her and dropped her off at her house, promising to go nyumbani and get the bikes ready for tomorrow....tomorrow? What trouble would find us tomorrow?
Chapter 24
The inayofuata morning, Bella was at my front door nice and early..a huge smile painted across her face. I knew that this was a bad idea, that we should find a safer hobby for the day..but one pouty face from Bella and I gave in. I would do anything to keep her from frowning, to keep her smiling. So yet again we made our way out to the open field where we had rode the other day, she tried to help me unload the bikes..but I really didn't need her help and I like the way she watched me when I lifted them out.
I offered to help her stand up the bike, but she was so insistent that she do it herself that I could do nothing but stand a few feet away and be there to help her if she needed it. The first few times she went to kickstart the bike it would threaten to fall over, au jerk mbele and my hand would shoot out and stabilize her each time.
"Jacob, I can do this alone." She alisema as she glared at me.
"Alright." I alisema as I held my hands up defensively.
She stuck her tongue out at me before she planted her foot a little zaidi firmly before and kick started the bike. The smile on her face was so full of pride and excitement that I couldn't help but smile like a dork myself.
"Here we go." She said..more to herself then to me before she shifted into first and began costing down the rough path.
She got about halfway down before she shifted into sekunde and opened the throttle up zaidi then she should have. I watched in horror as the bike wobbled below her, she applied the brakes like she was suppose to..except that she squeezed to hard and the bike shot her off into the ditch. I ran down to her as fast as I could, hoping that she was alright.
"Bella." I yelled as I got to the ditch to find her sitting with her back against a rock, her hand rubbing the back of her head. "Bella, say something please."
"Ow." She alisema as she laughed. "I almost had it that time."
"You almost killed yourself...again." I alisema as I reached a hand down to help her up.
"Ow."
"You already alisema that." I alisema as I laughed, helping her to her feet. "Looks like we're making another trip to the hospital."
"Mmmmm...yeah." She alisema as she closed her eyes, her entire body swaying. "I think I hit my head."
"Yeah, wewe did. Let's get wewe in the truck ok?"
I expected her to argue au protest when I picked her up in my arms, but she just closed her eyes again and rested her head against my shoulder. I set her in the passenger kiti, kiti cha before I went back to get the bikes, a part of me wanting to leave them there so she wouldn't hurt herself anymore.
