wewe pull up to your house, an saa and a half after school let out, hoping your mother isn’t nyumbani to realize wewe didn’t come straight nyumbani after school. To be honest, wewe never actually went. wewe spent the siku in your lover’s arms, not moving from the kitanda except for that saa long kuoga wewe took. wewe close your eyes, relaxing against the leather seats, and a smile creeps across wewe face as wewe think of the way she touched you. wewe blush, thinking of the way she made wewe come, screaming her name and dragging your nails down her back. It was the first time wewe didn’t have to fake your...

Your cell phone rings, waking wewe from a peaceful sleep. wewe reluctantly climb out of kitanda to find it, wrapping a sheet around wewe and cursing whoever decided it was a good idea to call wewe at 5 am. Stumbling towards your phone, wewe smile at the blonde girl still sleeping, remembering the night before. wewe flip your phone open without checking the caller ID.
“Hello,” wewe say, your voice laced with the effects of sleep.
“Marissa Cooper,” the voice on the other end screeches. “Where the hell are you, young lady?”
“Yeah, nice to hear from you, too, Mom,” wewe say sarcastically.
“Where...

wewe look up as wewe hear the door open, watching her walk in. wewe smile softly and tell her that her girlfriend has gone to sleep. She nods.

“Cool, I think we've seen the last of the guys,” she says, walking over to the table.

“Oh I wouldn’t be so sure, there’s still like what four dakika of girls night out left,” wewe retort.

You watch her as she takes a drink from the bia bottle she just picked up. “I’ve had enough of girls, and guys,” she says, sounding exasperated.

“There’s an old horror movie on,” wewe tell her, trying to take her mind off things.

She glances at the television...

wewe walk along the pier with her, hand in hand, as the wind blows softly. wewe look over at her and notice how beautiful she looks in the setting sun. wewe pause briefly and push a stray hair behind her ear and she pulls wewe in for a kiss. wewe still can’t believe how undeniably attracted wewe are to her. If you’d been asked a mwezi zamani if you’d ever hook up with a girl, it would have been an emphatic ‘no.’ But then again, a mwezi ago, wewe didn’t know her as anything other than Seth’s boss and sometime girlfriend.

“Hey, Maris,” she says, breaking your thoughts. wewe smile at her...

wewe walk into the club, standing at the juu of the spiral staircase, watching her give instructions to the few other employees that occupy the floor. wewe reach up and touch the moyo mkufu she gave you, unsure of what you’re about to do. Your moyo hurts just thinking about it, but it’s the right thing to do, isn’t it? No one is going to accept wewe two and wewe can’t take the stress of being rejected kwa everyone wewe know and love. wewe slowly make your way down the stairs, steadying yourself on the handrail. wewe stop at the bar, waiting for her to turn around.

“Hey you,” she says,...

wewe walk in the front door and before wewe can close it, she’s standing in front of you.

“Traffic on the way nyumbani from school,” she says.

“Yeah, mom,” wewe say, rolling your eyes and walking past her into the kitchen. wewe weren’t in the mood for her games, wewe just wanted to onyesha up long enough for her to get off your case and let wewe go see Alex again.

“I know wewe weren’t at Summer’s last night,” she calls from the foyer as she comes to meet wewe in the kitchen.

“Oh really now,” wewe say, pulling out the machungwa, chungwa juisi and taking a drink, not even bothering with a glass.

“Marissa,...

wewe wake up, blinded kwa the light coming in through the curtains. wewe don’t open your eyes because wewe feel arms wrapped around wewe and you’re scared you’d wake whoever it is. Instead, wewe sigh and curl up closer, trying to fall back asleep. For some reason, wewe feel good about yourself, even though wewe can’t remember where wewe are, because wewe know it’s not home. wewe decide wewe should probably figure that out, so wewe open your eyes a little and see the blonde hair that’s across your shoulder and smile. wewe know exactly where you’re at, and it makes wewe all warm again. wewe lean...
