Miley Cyrus Sings A ‘Sad Christmas Song’ For Your Inner Grinch

Cyrus teamed up with The Flaming Lips for "My Sad Christmas Song."

Superstar Miley Cyrus has a Christmas present for you — a new song! “My Sad Christmas Song,” a collab with The Flaming Lips, dropped late Thursday night (Dec. 24) on SoundCloud after Cyrus and the band teased its release on Twitter and Instagram.

, comes just two weeks after Cyrus’ “BB Talk” music video premiered on MTV. The holiday tune, as you may have guessed from its title, is less “Jingle Bell Rock” and more “Yule Shoot Your Eye Out.”

“This is my sad Christmas song / I’ve had it stuck in my head all day long / I wrote it in the car on my way home / because I knew I’d walk in the door and I’d be alone,” Cyrus croons at the song’s start. The melody is slow and simple, with a guitar backing her strong vocals.

Despite the single’s pessimism, Cyrus herself looks like she’s having quite the holiday season. She’s donned everything from the classic Christmas sweater to a festive Christmas tree headband to a full-on elf costume. ’Tis the season, after all.
