Lari ships it!: Nalu Part 1

(I seriously have way too many series, sorry.)

I’ve been rereading Fairy Tail and it has only resulted in me falling even deeper in upendo with this manga. At the same time, I’ve tried to pay special attention to the interactions of our two main characters: Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia.

I could make a orodha of most of their moments together, pointing out what I saw as development for their friendship and what I saw as the beginnings of something more, but that would take a crap load of time and it’s not like that hasn’t been done before. Instead, I’ll make a quick - au not so quick - summary of their relationship.

It all starts in Hargeon, when Lucy buys Natsu and Happy a meal as thanks for saving her from the “Salamander". This moment shows us quite a bit of their personalities, focusing on Lucy’s kindness and her admiration for magic, and Natsu’s impulsive but well-meaning ways. This marks the start of their friendship, though they are not aware of that yet.

As many have pointed out, it is alisema that the “love magic" that Bora uses can only be broken kwa the appearance of someone’s “true love". It’s an interesting idea, but it’s still not a confirmation.

As time progresses, we watch Lucy becoming closer to Natsu, getting to know the details of his personality and the sadness of his past. We learn of her lineage, and see their friendship being put to the test as we do. The Phantom Lord Arc is a testament to the strengh of their bond, and I truly believe that is when Lucy starts to think of Natsu as something other than a friend.

Why? She jumps out of a tower because she heard his voice. She does it because he is her nakama and she believes in him, but, then, she looks at him with such… tenderness. (I guess that would be the right way to put it.) It will be a reoccurring thing between them, these enigmatic glances Lucy sends him.

When it comes to Lucy, we have a girl that is not all that powerful (yet), someone that shifts between confidence (about her body) and insecurity (in her magic), someone who can be kind, but who also has a temper. Despite her extravagance, she is actually quite shy and easily embarrassed, so whatever feelings she may have, I doubt she would vocalize them.

She was raised in a house full of people that cattered to her every need, with the best teachers, clothing and food. Yet, she wasn’t happy. After her mother’s death, her father closed himself, running from the memory of a family he once had. His negligence caused her misery for many years, until the girl decided to run away.

Her braveness still amazes me, because we have a girl that was pampered her entire life and still chose to leave all that luxury behind in order to have a real life, with struggles and where she could make a name for herself.

So, when she gets to Fairy Tail and finds such a great number of people who care so extremely about each other, I can only imagine how surprised Lucy is. She is suddenly in the middle of this “nakama" thing, a family that embraces her without much questioning.

And it’s all because of Natsu, because he took her hand as they ran away from the guards in Hargeon.

zaidi than that, he becomes her best friend. The boy is always there, even when she doesn’t want him to be, protecting and annoying her, and always treating her like she matters. This kind of devotion isn’t something she has experienced since her mother’s death.

So, yes, I think these are some of the things that influence Lucy’s feelings towards Natsu.

In the inayofuata parts, I’ll continue to go through their interactions, before focusing on Natsu and what may have affected his feelings towards Lucy.
