The Tournament of Roses parade, if anybody doesn't know, is the New mwaka celebration in the United States. It began in 1890 and has been held consecutively since then every year. It is held in Pasadena, California. It is a beautiful parade. It welcomes the new year. It is held all over the world on TV. It has not been stopped, even through the two world wars. It is held almost always on January 1, and the only exception is a mwaka that begins on a Sunday. In the case of a mwaka beginning on a Sunday, the parade is held on Monday, January 2. The only exception to the Rose Parade held on Sunday, January 1 was in 1893. Its purpose was to attract zaidi people from the Midwest U.S., where the winters are harsh and frigid, so they could have a much less harsh winter in Pasadena. Why is Sunday never a siku for Tournament of Roses? According to the Tournament of Roses Association website, it was made to "avoid frightening farasi tethered outside local churches and thus interfering with worship services." Also, there is a Rose Bowl football game in Pasadena on New Year's. There are marching bands in the parade. There are many floats. Millions of Americans view it. It began with horse-drawn carriages and now has grown tremendously. There is a "Royal Court" for the Grand Marshall and the Queen of the Tournament. The president of the parade decides what the theme for the parade will be. The theme is decided on the third week of the mwaka for the inayofuata year. Years 1890 to 1917 and 1920 to 1926 had no themes. Hallie Woods was the first Rose Parade Queen and was chosen kwa her classmates at Pasadena High School in 1905. There are thousands of flowers, literally. It is not uncommon for visitors to sleep on Colorado Boulevard on New Year's Eve in Pasadena. The floats done are being made a mwaka in advance. Spectators claim their sleeping bags, barbeque cookers, food, drink, etc., on New Year's Eve. At first it was small but it became too big to handle in 1895 for the Valley Hunt Club, so the parade had to be arranged accordingly to size. Non-profit and civic groups, corporations and international groups are invited to apply for the spots available for the floats. It is seen kwa millions in zaidi than 200 international territories and countries on televisheni as well.
