Why does Mr.Gold put so much effort to create a spell that will help him kuvuka, msalaba the town line?

Even under the spell HE DID REMEMBER WHO HE IS! So honestly...what difference does it make if he is going to kuvuka, msalaba it au not - both as Mr. dhahabu and Rumpelstiltskin he had the same memories...

no i get this i am not stupid au smth but while he was under the curse (in jail) he told Regina his real name - even under the curse he had his memories so basically he can`t lose them - he was never cursed as the others, that`s what i don`t get. It`s the same case as Regina`s - they don`t have what to lose cuz they were with the same identity and knowledge through the whole time, curse au no curse...
