Once Upon A Time Article: Let Me Shed Some Light on The Curse ;)

I'm so happy I decided to jiunge this website! Now I can rant about my inayopendelewa onyesha (and like the only onyesha I watch) and one of my inayopendelewa topics! So if wewe like the makala I write, expect to see zaidi xD

Anyhow, getting to the point of the article, I've started to get the feeling that there are actually people who don't like Snow and Charming \'o'/ and I think I know why. In order to tackle this topic, I think I need to start with shedding some light on The Curse.

First of all, for those who disagree with Snow and Charming putting Emma through the wardrobe-portal, allow me to explain why they did the right thing :). The biggest thing is that they were giving her her BEST chance, they say this all the time, but it's so true. Snow and Charming didn't know what would happen as a result of the curse, they didn't know where they'd go, who they'd become, au even WHAT they would become. Something REALLY bad could have happened as a result of the curse. But they knew that no matter what happened Emma would be salama if she went through the portal. Another point is that Regina says to Snow "there will be no zaidi happy endings" (I hope I quoted that right). When they were transferred to our world Snow and Charming weren't even married and didn't know each other. So if Emma had come through Storybrooke as a result of the curse, who knows what would have happened. She could've ended up like Grace (Jefferson's daughter), who Regina placed in a different family. The whole point of the curse is for no one to have a happy ending. No one in Storybrooke was sad exactly, but they weren't happy, they were just living. She still could have had a miserable life. kwa putting her through the wardrobe she could AT LEAST have the chance to know the truth, to meet her real family, and maybe have her happy ending. I know that at this point in the show, Emma doesn't exactly have her happy ending yet. But we still have a ways to go, so we won't lose hope ;).

Secondly, I know that Mary Margret and David were pretty annoying in season one. They were cheating, lying, and specifically crying...A LOT. This all comes back to the whole "there will be no happy endings" thing. Regina had David Married to someone else to separate them so they would never be TRULY happy. Another part of the curse is that everyone's memories are changed, thereby slightly changing their personalities (because your experiences shape who wewe become as a person).

The curse also made everyone so much wimpier. In the episode "Welcome to Storybrooke", they onyesha how Regina bumps into Mary Margret and Mary Margret automatically backs down and desperately tries to apologize, even though it was Regina's fault. Snow is much stronger (physically and mentally) than Mary Margret, I think that if Snow was put in Mary Margret's position she would have made better decisions. I hope that eventually we'll see zaidi of the tough, strong Snow soon.

Now for David...David, David, David...cursed David was wimpy and emotionally unstable. As proven kwa the Fairy tale parallel, that if cursed David was actually like the REAL David he wouldn't have lied and cheated. Charming-David was zaidi committed to doing the right and best thing than going after his own wishes. Also, I think that him being in a coma created a memory loophole. Let us go down memory lane, shall we? Remember Season 1 Episode 16, I believe, David begins having flashes of Snow attempting to assassinate Regina. So in his defense, because of the loophole he knew that Snow was who he should and was supposed to be with.

In conclusion, I like Snow and Charming-David, but not Mary Margret and Storybrooke-David.

zanhar1 I actually hate the Charmings for a very different reason, but that's just me. I actually didn't mind season 1 Mary Margret, in fact I liked her, halfway through season 2 is when I started to hate her. Anyways good article, well written, fair points.

thisisme365 Thanks for the comments :) and I can see why you think Snow/Mary Margret started getting annoying halfway through season 2. I'm guessing you're talking about around the time when she killed Cora and then got kinda depressed. That didn't personally bother me because it seemed to make since for her to be upset seeing as she killed someone who she personally knew and all of the other drama that came along w/ Cora.

zanhar1 No problem. That's one of the reasons (Cora's death) it's not that she killed Cora it's how she did it and the hypocritical nature of it. At least when Regina kills someone she does it by her own hand (with the exception of Snow's dad, but even then she didn't stoop as low as tricking Snow into killing him). And at least Regina is up front about it. What actually annoys me the most about the Charming's (and this is that very different reason I was getting at) is their hypocrisy and arrogance. Those are two qualities that just peeve me. Here's an older post of mine explaining it; [i]Charming besides being boring he's almost becoming a Gary-Stu. Bare with me for a second as I explain this; he has 'the perfect' wife, they try to make him seem like a great, bold guy, and he did that thing that I hate; he was in a situation where he was inevitably doomed about 3 times now, a situation where a miracle was needed to save him. And he got out of it each time. Not to mention he's a bit of a hypocrite. And they way he treated Hook was ridiculous and childish. And I find him to be simply boring. Snow. She's a lot like Charming. I feel like they are making her out to be this insufferably perfect, pure, God-like character. She and her husband have ego to boot and arrogance beyond compare that I can't stand. And she's more hypocritical than Charming, she hates Gina for ripping hearts out but then she goes and kills someone too. And she didn't even have the guts to do it herself (this is when her character went down hill for me) what The worst part is I liked her in season 1 and in the first few episodes of 2, but as time passed I started to dislike her. It annoys me that she can't keep her mouth shut; first Gina's secret and then blurting out the fact that Neal is alive when Hook and Charming clearly said not to--at this point she has no excuse, she's an adult, she knows better. And then there's the fact that she is not willing to do whatever it takes to save Henry, who by all means was the one who freed her butt from the curse. And most recent is her confession, I felt so bad for Emma as she ran her mouth.[/i] Hope that stuff didn't offend anyone.

thisisme365 zanhar1 those were completely legitimate reasons, and I'm glad you commented :) the only thing that I disagree with, though is the thing with snow killing Cora. I don't think that what she did meant she didn't have enough guts to kill Cora herself because I'm pretty sure that she can't take/put in people's hearts. She had to have Regina do it because she couldn't do it herself. Although I will say that, looking back on it, was manipulative and underhanded. But at the time, I wanted Cora to be gone so badly that I didn't care. I would say all of your other points are accurate and I can see the characters in a different light now. Darkangel6 I just don't like Snow/Mary Margaret for some reason I just don't. i'm not fond of David/Charming but i'll deal with him. I don't hate them, just can't get into their storylines unless it has to do with Emma and Henry.

Evilregal14 Snow is just a coward for what she did, and I'm never going to change my opinion about her.

thisisme365 Another thing that I would like to point out is that I am a fan of Regina. I think she's an amazing character, who is becoming more and more relatable. And I do find it to be a bit annoying that Snow and Charming continuously don't trust her, but at the same time they've given her lost of chances to change. So I'm kinda neutral about that part. Even though it's not only them who won't forgive Regina, it's kind of all of the townspeople. It's pretty legitimate for them to feel that way, but I wish they'd give her another chance....but that's why Henry is such an essential character, he forces them to come together. I also have a lot of respect for Emma because, unlike her parents, she has been trying harder to just reach out to Regina. In Season 2 Episode 10 she invites Regina to celebrate at Granny's with them. I felt SO bad for Regina in that episode.

LowriLorenza89 Good points. I'm actually quite sure that baby Emma would have been killed before the Curse struck if she had been found - Regina says that she'd kill her to prevent her from being the Saviour, and even if she hadn't given her Black Guards those specific orders, I could see one of them choosing to kill Snowing's child to please her. In the scenario that Emma lived, I could see the Curse placing her in a bad situation, like a cold and emotionless orphanage or with abusive parents. The Curse was specifically targeted in particular to make Snow and Charming miserable so I expect it'd extend the same treatment to their daughter. And Emma would be trapped as a newborn forever, with no way of ever breaking the Curse - time only started moving when she chose to stay, which she couldn't do as a baby. Part of my explanation for season 1 David is that I do believe that Charming does believe in the sanctity of marriage. This belief carried over to his cursed self, but so did his love for Snow, so he was conflicted.
