Does the Yami Yami no Mi give the user the power to absorb other devil fruits?

This isn't a yes au no question. What I want is a source. It's fine if it's just speculation, but I've been seeing a lot of people claiming that Blackbeard was able to take the Gura Gura no Mi's power via the absorption abilities of the Yami Yami no Mi. What proof is there of this?

I don't believe that there is any clear evidence of this. All we saw was Blackbeard drawing a curtain and emerging with the Gura Gura No Mi power. However, I have evidence that it probably isn't. Thatch was the awali eater of the Yami Yami No Mi... supposedly Blackbeard killed him and ate it. There's the evidence, if he killed Thatch and ate his fruit, then he clearly did the same to Whitebeard, who he also killed. He obtained the Yami Yami No Mi because of this, so logic would dictate that it wasn't the cause. I also have some speculation - when the eater of a DF dies, that DF is no longer absorbed kwa their body and is easily taken from them - I'm guessing not in physical form, but the powers exist in some form and Blackbeard figured out some way in kuunganisha them. However, I do believe that it is his Yami Yami No Mi that allowed him to be able to eat two fruits, because it granted him the atypical body structure that Wiki mentioned. I believe, because it is abnormal for a Logia, not allowing him to become intangible in the same way that others have, like the Hie Hie No Mi, Magu Magu No Mi, Pika Pika No Mi, Goro Goro No Mi and others. That's why he was able to eat the second, I think. Of course that, too, is speculation.
