PAW Patrol is an Animated Show which made its Nick Jr debut on August 12, 2013.
Every episode follows a Two Shorts format following the adventures of Ryder and his team of heroic puppies. Each dog\'s house transforms into a special vehicle which corresponds to their special skills. Together they help save Adventure Bay from many troublesome situations.
Adorkable: Marshall is a Precious Puppy like the others, but adding in his dorky clumsiness and often awkward but goodhearted efforts to help just makes him all the more adorable.
All Just a Dream: "Pups and the Beanstalk", the episode wherein Alex is suddenly a giant descending from a beanstalk. Of course, Rubble is shown going to sleep just before these events begin.
Bedsheet Ghost: "Pups Save a Ghost" featured a mysterious canine ghost dressed in a sheet prowling about the Lookout, doing things like taking treats, digging holes, and leaving
on. Rocky devises a trap to catch the ghost, baited with a cookie and set up to drop a sheet on the ghost when he fell for it. Unfortunately, the trap gets triggered, and Ryder is covered in the sheet, making the pups briefly think he\'s the ghost, then a victim of the ghost. The "ghost" is then revealed to be Marshall sleepwalking around under a bedsheet, which is foreshadowed by the ghost having Marshall\'s shape.
Downplayed, but Marshall is often subjected to slapstick-like comedy due to his clumsiness.
The aquaphobic Rocky was often hit with water for the sake of a joke, especially from Marshall\'s water cannons.
Cap\'n Turbot often requires help, ends up in predicaments, and is sometimes a human version of Marshall.
member of the PAW Patrol has one, and they\'re almost all uttered Once an Episode.
Borrowed Catchphrase: When Zuma is called upon to drive Rubble\'s rig in "Pups Save a Super Pup", he borrows Rubble\'s "on the double" line.
As of "Pups Save A Mer-Pup", Cap\'n Turbot is trying one. Even if he did have to explain that "Turbot tackles trout" was supposed to be his call-out...
The Chick: In addition to Skye and Everest, there\'s also Katie (human) and Cali (cat).
Color-Coded Characters: Each pup has a color motif which corresponds to his or her job.
Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: Zuma demonstrates this, perhaps to show how he\'s still young.
Epic Fail: Zuma\'s attempts to use Rubble\'s bulldozer in "Pups Save a Super-Pup"
Everything Sounds Sexier in French: Skye is briefly drawn to Captain Turbot\'s cousin Francois, partly due to his accent. Rubble attempts to impersonate him, while wearing the same stereotypical getup as Francois, with no success.
The Smart Guy: Rocky the Recycling Mixed Breed
Sixth Ranger: Zuma the Diver Chocolate Labrador, and now also Everest the Mountain Husky
Friend To All Avians: Birds really like Marshall.
Rubble\'s stomach growls once in the episode, "Pups Get a Rubble" and three times in "Pups Save the Treats".
Cali\'s stomach growls five times in the episode, "Pups Save a Train".
The volume record has been taken by new member Everest, whose rumbling tummy has been mistaken for thunder and an angry bear.
Goggles Do Something Unusual: Skye\'s goggles can act as binoculars, telescoping out to let her see faraway objects.
Heroic Dogs/Heroes Love Dogs: The whole point of this show.
The Klutz: Marshall, who has a habit of crashing into the elevator\'s walls and other things. And getting his head stuck in stuff.
Meaningful Name: Most of the pups have names connected to their respective roles.
Mr. Fixit: Rocky often assumes this sort of role, thanks to the multitude of recycled materials in his truck and the repair equipment in his pack.
At one point, Skye and Zuma try to keep some kids cooled off while they wait for the pool to be fixed. Zuma runs off and grabs some popsicles; Skye flies up to a nearby mountain and brings back a bucketful of snow.
In another episode, Rubble and Rocky use their packs\' respective equipment to build a snowman.
The Nose Knows: Chase\'s sense of smell is so acute, he can identify jelly beans
Not So Above It All: Chase tries to stay "professional" while on missions, but doesn\'t always succeed.
Origins Episode: "Pups Get a Rubble", wherein Ryder explains to Mayor Goodway about how Rubble became a part of the group, and demonstrated excellent digging skills to rescue a trapped snowboarder.
unleashed by Mayor Humdinger in Season 2 Episode 15B: Pups and the Mischievous kittens.
Security Cling: Some of the pups have a habit of jumping into Ryder\'s arms when they get scared.
In "Pups Save the Sea Turtles", Chase becomes overly concerned when Skye pulls off an aerial rescue, even gushing to her about how worried he was.
In "Pups Save a School Day", the two of them act as Team Dad and Team Mom for the others during their morning routine.
In "Pups Save the Camping Trip", when Ryder tells the pups that something has gone wrong at Skye and Rocky\'s "pup scouts" campout, Chase asks if Skye is okay (though he quickly amends that to "they"). And then there\'s this little moment after Skye is successfully lowered into a crevice to save Chickaletta:
Chase: Yes! Skye\'s okay! She\'s okay!
Uh, n-no I wasn\'t. I\'m just, uh... glad you saved Chickaletta.
The robo-pup Ryder builds in "Pups Save Ryder\'s Robot" resembles the Teksta robot puppy toys.
Chase is infamous for this since he\'s allergic to cat fur and bird feathers.
Skye lets out a big one in "Pups and the Pirate Treasure" when she sticks her head in a dusty knothole.
Talking Animals: Interestingly enough, only the dogs talk, but they still exhibit doggy habits like appreciating rubs and scratches, howling, and eating dog treats.
The Smurfette Principle: The PAW Patrol features only one female member, Skye, until the introduction of Everest in Season 2.
Transforming Mecha: The puppies\' homes double as vehicles with
Totally Radical: Zuma talks like this from time to time, usually by referring to people as "dude".
Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The conflict of "Pups and the Ghost Pirate" is kicked off when Cali and Chickaleta run about the pirate ship, causing it to drift into the Bay with the supporting cast trapped on it.
What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: When other puppies get vehicles like a police cruiser, a firetruck, or a
Heart Is an Awesome Power: On the other hand, Rocky does make up for it with his Mr. Fixit and gadgeteer roles, considering he
Who Would Want to Watch Us?: Inverted. In "Pup-A-Doodle-Doo", while watching "Hello, Adventure Bay", Marshall claims watching the team\'s exploits on TV is fun.
"What Do They Fear?" Episode: In "Pups Save A Toof", in order to ease Alex\'s fear of going to the dentist, Ryder and the pups tell him what they\'re afraid of; Ryder hates eating Brussels sprouts, Rocky doesn\'t like getting wet, Rubble is afraid of spiders, Marshall is scared of flying, Skye is afraid of eagles, and Chase also fears going to the dentist (Zuma is skipped over for some reason).
Why Did It Have to Be Water?: It\'s not an intense fear but, Rocky does have an aversion to water-related activities.
