Chapter 1
Everyone thinks their parents are amazing. Yea they get on your nerves, big time. But would you still like them if your father was one of the greatest heroes of Greek demigod history? Would you still like your mother if she was an extremely know it all? Yea, thats me. My dad is Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. The dud that gives you seashells as a birthday present. Sad to say Poseidon's my grandpa.
My name is Brenna Zoe Jackson. My middle name is Zoe after the head hunter of Artemis that died saving my dad's life. My mom says its a great honor to have that name. I think its a bit creepy. Now I know you think that having these parents is the coolest thing ever. Guess what?
Its not.
Every year I spend Christmas Under the ocean at my Grandpa's castle. Then we do thanksgiving at my grandma Sally's house. Then, just to make you all happy, since you must know how many children this hero couple had, its five. In order it's Krissie, Colby, me, and the twins, Emily and Ethan.
Now of course, if two demigods had kids.....what kind would they have? Good question. My sister Krissie, who got my Dad's side of the family. She got my mom's human side and my Dad's godly side. Colby who ended up with both my parents human sides. He's full human. Emily and Ethan, each with my dad's human side and my mom's godly side. And then there's me. You'll figure it out.
Now this story isn't about my crazy family and how I live through it, this is how my life became way even more annoying to live through. I was at school, the day before spring break started. It was a sunny day, with a little rain here and there, but one thing was for sure, I was freaking out.
I had a massive Greek studies test. Most of you reading this would have no problem taking that kind of test. But if you have such a hard time in Greek mythology class, and your grandpa is POSEIDON!!! Then your in deep, deep, deep doodoo. Thats me, the brown haired, grey eyed girl sitting in her own mother's third period Greek Mythology class at Poynter Junior high school with an F running at top speed at her face.
My parents have always expected out of me the most. Not Krissie who can control water. Not Emily and Luke who are 8-years-old and read the dictionary as a bedtime story. Not Colby who plays Halo all day. But me. The girl....with both of your parent's godly sides. Yea...I'm the only immortal. It's pretty sad. I haven't shown any power that could make me a minor goddess of. Colby thinks I'm going to become the minor Goddess of boredom. Thats when I slap him and I get grounded. See? I even have the ideas of a Greek goddess. I'm stubborn, can be rude, like hurting people, especially my siblings, and I never, ever get sick or get hurt. And I drink nectar like soda and ambrosia like its a chocolate chip cookie.
Thats why I was going to get in deep doodoo if I got an F on the Greek Mythology test. Because I am one of those minor Goddess. A goddess who hasn't found her power.
I know a Greek mythology test has nothing to do with my story. But it starts it. So I'm gonna use it.
My eyelids were really heavy. I was tired as I sat there bored to death. I sat in the back with my friend Danny. A girl named Danny. My mother stood at the front explaining the story of the minotaur. Her long blond hair was puled into a bun. She wore pants and a blue shirt. The only sucky thing is, she's the only Greek mythology teacher in the school. I have to be in her class. And she treats me just the same as the other kids. She even yelled at me once for talking in class. My mom always wanted to be an architect. But she changed her mind and became a a teacher. She did design and build our house though.
"Miss Brenna are you listening?" She said to me with her hands on her hips. I sat up and rolled my eyes.
"Yes mom. WAIT I mean Mrs. Jackson." The class laughed knowing their teacher was my mother.
She stared at me and gave me the evil eye. "It doesn't look like you are. What temple was sacred to Athena in the city of Athens?"
"Ugh......"
"For Olympus sakes!! You should know this!!"
Yes, of course she was scolding me in front of the class. And she used a demigod term. 'Olympus sakes' Its okay though, everyone in the class is use to it.
"Sorry Mrs. Jackson." I said while pulling out my notebook. Danny laughed at me after my mom turned around.
Suddenly, I heard the wrinkle of paper on my desk. Danny passed me a note.
sleep ovr this weekend? the note said. I sighed and scribbled out my anwser.
goin camping for da spring break
That's my families code word for when we are going to visit Camp Half blood. 'going camping.'
She nodded at me like she understood. I turned back to the front where my Mom stood writing on the board the assignment I didn't know about.
"Class I want you all to read this book over spring break." She pointed to a book with a leather cover. "And when you are done you must create a god or goddess on piece of paper and write down his powers and his place in the family line of Greek gods. You also must write a short mythology tale about them." She nodded and went to her desk but immediately the bell rang.
I passed my mom on the way out. But she pulled on my hand. "Brenna, for your assignment I want you to do you as the goddess. You must find out what you are the goddess of. I know you can." Her eyes were pleading and grey like mine. I nodded and went out the door.
