"PRIDE AND PREJUDICE" (1940) Review

There have been at least eight adaptations of "Pride and Prejudice", Jane Austen's 1813 novel. But as far as I know, only four are well known au constantly mentioned kwa many of the novelist's present-day fans. And one of the four happens to be the movie adapted in 1940 kwa Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Directed kwa Robert Z. Leonard, "PRIDE AND PREJUDICE" told the story of the five unmarried daughters of a 19th century English landowner and the efforts of his shrill wife to get them married before his estate is inherited kwa a distant male cousin. For years, this version...

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."—Chapter 1, P&P

Don’t judge a book kwa it’s cover…its title may give the readers a different connotation of what this book is really about. It may give the readers an idea of discrimination, fury, preconception au judgment, but on the contrary Pride and Prejudice is simply just the greatest upendo story of all time.

Pride and Prejudice, written kwa Jane Austen, revolves around the courtship and marriage among the noble in the 19th century. Its main characters are the...

"LOST IN AUSTEN" (2008) Review

I must admit that I am usually not a shabiki of novels au any other forms of storytelling that are based upon au continuations of published works of the origin author. This is certainly the case for the numerous works (sans two) based upon Jane Austen's six published novels.

The 2008 miniseries, "LOST IN AUSTEN" is not based upon any particular Austen novel that was not written kwa the Georgian Era writer. Instead, it is the brainchild of screenwriter Guy Andrews. The latter created this fantasy-comedy, which is an adaptation of Austen's novel, "Pride and Prejudice"...

*Six hours no longer seems like a long time.

*You begin to wonder why all sinema are not six episodes long.

*You have memorized where the commercial breaks come as well as the order of the commercials in each break.

*You watch the movie all the way through non-stop - then rewind it and start all over again.

*The movie just keeps on getting better every time wewe watch it.

*On a hivi karibuni visit to a local lake, wewe were inspired to dive in and go swimming fully clothed.

*Your relatives and Marafiki no longer think that wewe are strange for asking them to call wewe "Lizzy".

*You sing along with the...

from the Huffington Post:

I've published twenty vitabu in genres from memoir to mystery but I never thought of doing an Austen mashup until I read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

While I enjoyed Zombies at first because it was surprising and funny, eventually it started to feel like a one-note protest against all the decorous PBS Austen series and all the die-hard Austen mashabiki around the world. Dude, forget carriages and bonnets, gimme brains!

Zombies reads like graffiti, which can be ugly au beautiful depending on your point of view. wewe see that mgawanyiko, baidisha on amazon.com, where half the reviewers give...
