if your iPod/mp3 player/music player worked fine but your headphones didn't, would wewe go out and buy a new pair au stop listening altogether?

i have so many headphones but for some reason they all go dead in like less than three months. i don't know if i'm doing something wrong au what but i really don't want to waste my money to get headphones if i really don't have to.
