The Copa America dreams of Kaka and Ronaldinho appear to be over, as the two playmakers were left out of a 28-man Brazil squad to take on the Netherlands and Romania in June.
The Selecao coach announced the call-ups in a press conference held on Thursday afternoon, as he looks to trim down the orodha to 22 players on June 2. The Real Madrid and Flamengo men have been omitted from what appears to be the final shortlist for the Copa America.
Kaka has just returned from serious injury, while Ronaldinho has not found the form he hoped for in Brazil and has Lost ground to young Sao Paulo prospect Lucas.
Fred of Fluminense, Flamengo's Thiago Neves and Fabio of Cruzeiro are the new additions, while according to the tecnico's statements the currently injured Ganso is also in consideration for the Copa, despite facing over a mwezi on the sidelines with a thigh problem.
Menezes explained that he called up so many players in order to make life easier on the klabu who have to release their men for the June meetings.
"We chose to make a orodha of 28 names for scheduling reasons. We need to make it official two weeks before for the club's training schedules. We would have to choose our [Copa America] squad on June 2, and that causes certain difficulties. We have looked ahead, we chose 28 players," he explained.
"After the sekunde game we are going to pick 22 players for the Copa America, with one other player who is not on the orodha - Paulo Henrique Ganso. He is injured and we want to be sure of his fitness in order to make the decision."
