Eggman's POV:
I hadn't heard from Shadow for over a week now, I wondered what was taking the useless hedgehog so long? Maybe he had betrayed me... I would have to find out. So I summoned the Tails Doll, it would surely watch him for me. "Tails Doll,"
"Yes master."
"Keep an eye on Shadow, please."
"Yes master."
"Very well then. I pressed a button on my communicator and sent off the signal. Hopefully he had the bat, because her silver rings would complete the ultimate weapon which would handily destroy the whole world.
Shadow's POV:
As I ushered Faron and Rocha down the hallway, the communicator that the Doctor had strapped to my wrist sizzled. I stopped and looked at it, "Shadow, is that you?"
"Yes Doctor..."
"I haven't heard from wewe for a few weeks. Have wewe found the bat yet?" my moyo puonded as I signaled Rocha and Faron to stay quiet, then I did something that I had never ever done before... I lied, "No Doctor, but don't worry, I will try to find her."
"Well I'm only giving wewe two zaidi days... after that I'm sending out my robots with the order to capture her and bring her to me... anyone who trys to stop me, will die!"
"Yes Doctor." I alisema as the signal faded. I backed against a ukuta and took in some deep breaths. This was not good. "Shadow? Why does he need me so bad?" Rocha asked me, "he wants your rings. They possess a power that if he gets his hands on them, the whole world will be destroyed. "Well then why didn't wewe give me up, now wewe are going to die!"
"Have I ever died before?"
"No..."
"Well I'm not ready yet." I alisema proudly and stopped as we saw the air shift, "what was that?" as if to answer my question, a purple chameleon appeared out of thin air, "Espio!" I cried. "I sense the presence of death..." Espio kept his eyes closed mysteriously as he spoke. "Yes, Mephiles has died." Espio's eyes suddenly shot open, "Mephiles the Dark? He's... dead?" I nodded sadly and I felt Faron shift uncomfortably beside me. "But I - He- I thought he was immortal!"
"He was, but something killed him... I would like to know what, but that's not the most important thing right now."
"Oh yeah, then what is the most important thing?"
"The Doctor. He's after us and he wants Rocha's rings... they possess great power, that he will use to destroy the world." I alisema gravely. Espio looked thoughtful for a minute, "Well I will notify the others to keep the girl safe..."
"No! wewe dont get it do you?"
"Probably not..."
"He is sending out his most powerful robots to come and get her in two days, and quote 'anyone who gets in his way will die' we can't afford to loose any lives!"
"You're right, we can't. Don't worry, we will figure something out. I'm sure of it! Anyways, it's still the middle of the night... dont wewe think the young ladies need their rest?"
"They do... especially Faron. She's had such a hard siku today..."
"Who is Faron?"
"Mephiles' daughter..."
"Oh, you're kidding me. Well go take them back to kitanda then Shadow."
"I cant," I leaned closer to whisper into Espio's ear, "his body is in there."
"Oh, take them to my room, we can all spend the night there. We'll deal with things in the morning." It was amazing how cool Espio kept at situations like these... no wonder he was a ninja.
Faron's POV:
As Shadow tucked me in I thought about everthing that had happened in my life...It was really messed up, and was it true that my father had been immortal but had died? What about me... would I have the same fate? "Get some rest Faron." Shadow kissed my forehead and left me, "Shadow where are wewe going?" I mumbled, "Shh..." he shut the lights off and left me there with Rocha. "Rocha, I cant sleep..."
"Aww, sweetie, I dont blame you, would it help if I told wewe a story?"
"Uh... Sure."
"You see, I don't have any parents either... They abandoned me when I was very young."
"Well my parents cared for me! Why did Mephiles have to die?"
"Faron, some things happen in life that we cant control."
"You're right." I closed my eyes and let sleep take over from there.
Rocha's POV:
Poor Faron. Mephiles seemed like all that she ever had. I wanted to help her. Once I knew that she was sleeping I snuck out of Espio's room. I heard silent chatter coming from the kitchen, so I went down there. "Well she sounds quite innocent from what you're telling us Shadow, it seems as if Mephiles has raised her without evil, but the swali is can we ever trust Mephiles?"
"Rouge, she's young! Dont blame her for what her father has done!"
"Just saying."
"Listen guys, she could possibly help us against Eggman... wewe never know." Espio interupted and everyone went silent. "You know what? Espio is right, we are in a time of crisis right now, why turn down some much needed help?" It was Sonic. He had felt that Espio's reason was right. "Then it's settled, Faron will stay." Amy concluded backing him up. "Thank you." Shadow sounded unusually greatful. "Guys..." it was Blaze. "Yes?"
"Shadow says that Silver was the one who had taken Mephiles and Faron here... I wonder where he is..."
"We should find Silver." this time it was Knuckles who had spoken up. "I have faith in that hedgehog."
"Then we'll start searching as soon as we can." everyone looked up and stared at me. "How long were wewe listening?"
"Enough to know what's going on." I strode across the room, "Sorry Shadz, I couldn't sleep." I smiled as everyone seemed to accept that I had heard what I had heard. "We will begin the tafuta tomorrow." commanded Blaze as she left the jikoni only to suddenly stop as a knock sounded at the door. I heard her heels click on the floor as she went to open it, I was about to stop her when I heard a high pitched meow of excitement, "Silver? Is it really you?" then everybody came to their senses and ran to the door, "Silver! How are you?"
"Are wewe hurt?"
"All this time..." I saw a grey-white hedgehog standing at the door looking very bombarded as everyone came onto him, "Guys give him some space!" I yelled and they all backed up a little allowing Silver to breath. "Dont worry guys, I'm fine." he murmured reassuringly. "Come sit down." Blaze took him into the living room and sat him on the couch. He sighed and looked at me, "who are you?"
"Me? I'm Rocha."
"Nice to meet you, I am Silver, as wewe have already heard. Shadow, where's Mephiles and Faron?" Shadow looked pale for a second, "Mephiles died not too long zamani and Faron is upstairs sleeping hopefully." Shadow looked at me and I nodded. "I knew it." Silver shook his head sadly and placed his gloved hands in his lap. "Listen guys, I came here to continue living with wewe even though I have been absent for such a long time, and I also wanted to tell wewe something..."
"Yes?"
"As I was coming here, I noticed some of Eggman's robots, they were heading this way..."
"Were wewe spotted?"
"No, I had a funny feeling that if I was there would be no escaping a battle and I for one am in no fighting shape."
"Hmph, so they're coming earlier that expected... must be a trap." Shadow groaned, "now I have a headache... AGAIN!"
"Come on, lets go to kitanda Shadow" I said, wrapping my arm around him and leading him towards our room. "Wait-"
"Espio and Sonic took his body out already."
"Okay, what about Faron?"
"Silver, go see Faron." I called over my shoulder. "Sure thing!"
Shadow and I got into our room and we both sat on the kitanda and stared at eachother for atleas a dakika straight, "Listen Rocha." Shadow began as he closed his gloved hands over mine. "Yea?" I alisema as my moyo fluttered wildly... like a bird trapped in a cage. "Ever since the siku I rescued you, I've been having these strange feelings, I dont know what they are au how to describe them, but I remember feeling the same way when I was around Maria..."
"What do wewe mean?"
"Well, whenever I'm around you, I just have to do this..." Shadow leaned towards my face and kissed me. I blushed hard as I reciprocated. "That's funny, cuz I feel the same way." I chuckled and slid under the covers with Shadow's warm body beside me. I snuggled into his white chest fur, manyoya and giggled. "What's so funny?" he asked. "Mmm, nothing..." he embraced me and I fell asleep in his strong, black arms, "No matter what, I will protect you."
Eggman's POV:
I obviously had to send out my robots much earlier than I had planned. For I knew that Shadow had betrayed me and I had to catch him kwa surprise. He would only have one choice, he would have to hand over the bat girl and live au save her furry punda and die. I wouldn't let him get away with defying me! He would have to fight to the death. "Tails doll?"
"Yes master."
"Prepare the metals for battle."
