Chapter 4: Truth Be Told
2 months later.
It was one of the Planet’s busiest work days and the bullpen was full of people rushing to finish their reports before the deadline, everyone that is, but Clark. He sat at his dawati moving back and forth with his chair as he watched Lois deeply focused with her work. The concept of deadlines and reports meant nothing to him as he was sitting across from her. The sun shined bright on her chokoleti curls making him want to run his fingers through her hair. The way the sun reflected on her perfect features made her even zaidi irresistible! He was so infatuated kwa her that he couldn’t help but sit there smiling. He thought about the last two months and how perfect they’d been. Working with her everyday, spending every waking saa kwa her side, there was no better feeling in the world. Feeling his stare, she looked up and met his gaze. Every time she saw those puppy-dog eyes staring back at her, butterflies fluttered in her stomach. She loved the way Clark looked at her, and she absolutely loved the fact that finally it was Lois and Clark, together, without anyone to get in the way. She got up from her dawati and walked over to the copy machine and he quickly followed. It was an automatic reaction as he walked towards her; it was almost as if they were a force constantly drawing them closer to each other. He stopped a couple feet away from her, admiring her from afar. How had he been so lucky? He asked himself and smiled at the thought. It made him happy to know that she was all his and nothing would change that. Her back was towards him but she could feel the intensity of his stare, there was just something about it. She constantly felt the need to pinch her arm to be reminded that this wasn’t a dream, it was real and she finally had everything she ever wanted. He walked up behind her wrapping his arms around her waist as he softly kissed her cheek. Oh how he new what made her weak. She felt a rush go through her body as she spun around to look into his eyes.
“Hi cupcake.” She joked as a giggle escaped from her lips.
“Hi muffin.” He teased back as he brushed back a piece of hair that had fallen over her eye. She looked up at him and saw so much upendo in his eyes it always made her moyo skip a beat.
“I lied.” She alisema softly as her gaze shifted towards her feet. He got a sudden knot in his stomach as he tried to think about what she was talking about.
“Lo, what do wewe mean wewe lied?” He alisema with a calm voice, he wanted her to feel as though she could tell him anything. He lifted her chin up so that her eyes would once again meet his.
“When that psychopath had kidnapped us and forced us to answer those questions…” Her voice trailed off. He placed his hand on her cheek to let her know everything was okay. “He asked me if I loved you, and I alisema yes. But after, I told wewe that I slipped the censor off my finger.” She alisema and waited for him to give her a nod of recollection before continuing. “I lied.” She repeated herself. “I was telling the truth Clark. I was afraid to admit it but I’ve had these feelings bottled up inside for a really long time.” She alisema softly. He had to know, she thought. Even though it seemed like it was no big revelation, to her it was huge.
“Lois…” He said. How had he been so blind to her feelings? It all started making sense now and he felt horrible. He blew her off for Lana and never thought twice about it. “I’m sorry.” He whispered as tears filled his eyes.
“Sorry about what?” She asked. She saw his eyes filled with tears and couldn’t stand the thought that she made him feel that way. “You shouldn’t be sorry. I shouldn’t have brought this up, things were going so well.” Her eyes fell back to the floor as she turned away. She has started walking back to her dawati when he grabbed her hand and pulled her back.
“This doesn’t change anything.” He alisema with a reassuring softness to his words. “I just can’t take that I hurt you, why didn’t wewe ever tell me?”
“Because, wewe were still in upendo with…” she whispered.
“Lana.” He alisema feeling sorry. “I’m sorry. Why would wewe think this changes anything?”
“…I was afraid that, if I admitted it, we’d realize that I have zaidi feelings for wewe than wewe do for me.” She whimpered. He wrapped her in his arms and rubbed her back and she cried.
“Lois, I upendo you. I upendo wewe zaidi than wewe could ever imagine. And nothing is going to change that, nothing.” He smiled and squeezed her tightly. He thought she was just adorable when she was insecure, but it broke his moyo at the same time. He never wanted her to feel like he didn’t upendo her enough. He wiped the tears of her face and passionately brushed his lips against hers. Lois, I upendo you. She repeated to herself over and over again savoring the moment. He had never alisema that to her before. She’s had boyfriends tell her that before but it never felt as good as it did right then.
“I upendo wewe too.” She alisema as a huge smile came across her lips. “We should get back to work.”
“Lo?” He called out as she was making her way back to her desk. She turned around to find him holding out a box with a bow around it.
“What’s this?” She questioned, extremely curious about the contents of the little box.
“Go ahead, open it.” He smiled. The ribbon fell to the floor as she lifted of the juu of the small box, inside was a key.
“Will wewe songesha in with me?” He asked; there was so much upendo in his voice it made her moyo melt.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” She jumped into his arms and kissed him over and over again. Tears rolled down her cheek for the sekunde time today, but this time they were tears of joy. As she looked at him she saw tears streaming down his face too. He had never been happier in his life, he finally felt like everything was right and he was where he belonged.
“I want to celebrate” Clark grinned. “How about wewe come over to the farm tonight, I’ll cook us a nice meal and then tomorrow we can start with the move?”
“Sounds perfect!” she smiled back giving him one last kiss. “I’m going to go nyumbani and get ready, what time is chajio, chakula cha jioni at?” she asked as she placed her fingers between his.
“Six.” He told her before she started to walk away. “I upendo you!”
He alisema just before she had turned the corner. Hearing him say that made her want to jump up and down. “Love wewe too, Smallville.” She winked. And before he knew it Lois was gone and it was time for Clark to get everything ready for tonight.
Clark spent the inayofuata couple hours making sure everything was perfect. Everything from the muziki to what he was wearing. He put on his nicest suit and his dad’s cufflinks eager to onyesha Lois that he now knows how to put them on. He had whitesnake playing in the background and a pot-roast cooking in the oven. The meza, jedwali was set and he was lighting the candles, it took him a couple matches because his hands were shaking so much from excitement and nervousness. He wanted their first night living together to be one to remember.
-------
It was 6:30 and Lois hadn’t shown up yet. Clark sat at the meza, jedwali waiting as the pot-roast stayed heated in the oven.
“Typical Lois.” He laughed rolling his eyes. It always took her so long to get ready. He didn’t mind her being late, it actually made him a bit happy knowing that she cared this much about how she looked for tonight.
Twenty zaidi dakika had passed and still no sign of her. Clark tried her at nyumbani and on her cell phone but the machine kept picking up. Just the sound of her voice put a smile on his face. He left messages on her cell and at nyumbani teasing her about how if it was so hard to find something to wear she could just come naked. After he left his messages laughing at his own jokes he poured some wine as he waited for her to call back with some sarcastic remark.
The phone rang just as Clark had sat back down.
“Hello?” Clark asked as he put the phone to his ear.
“Is this Clark Kent?” A woman asked on the other line.
“Yes it is; who am I speaking with?” He asked confused.
“I’m calling from the Metropolis General Hospital. wewe were listed as the emergency contact of Lois Lane."
